MAID - Jamie Oliver's Brain Microwave

At one time, the microwave was conceived as the killer of all other cooking appliances in the kitchen. A stove, an oven, a toaster and a double boiler had to hurriedly prepare for a departure to another world, in order to give way to the new queen of the fields. But after 60 years, in our kitchens, stoves, ovens, and other “assistants to the housewife,” miraculously coexisting with a once formidable upstart, are still alive and feeling great.

However, despite the clear threat from multicookers, microwave ovens are still hoping to break through to world-wide kitchen dominance. Kickstarter Campaign Goes Onto raise funds for the production of the most desperate microwave stormtrooper - a smart multi-function oven named MAID (from Make All Incredible Dishes) from SectorQube, which aims to make the cooking process “easy, fun and social.” And deprive professional chefs of work (in fact, no).

Oliver, mentioned in the title, may not need to worry, but this is only for now. In the description of the device, the authors promise a miracle, not a household appliance. For starters, MAID will be multifunctional, that is, fry, grill, cook, steam, heat and defrost it will be able to do it once or twice, although this will not surprise anyone. Almost any of her rivals can do the same.

More interesting. MAID will know all-all recipes. Not immediately, of course, but with the accumulation of knowledge that will accumulate in a certain “storehouse" thanks to users and get into the microwave through an Internet connection. Anyone can add a favorite page from the cookbook to the recipes store, or share their own culinary creation. So the television hero will have to try very hard to surprise you with a new recipe.

The real highlight of the invention should be (if the campaign overcomes the declared milestone of $ 150,000, a third of which was collected in the first 5 days of the campaign), a smart recommender system, which is the basis of the smart device. MAID will be able to offer a recipe based on existing products, or products that you would like to use when cooking. But, more importantly, the microwave will be able to give personalized recommendations for each user based on eating habits or health data. The microwave oven will be able to offer only the right and wholesome dishes to those who are experiencing any health problems, be it diabetes, lactose intolerance, etc., or will help with dieting, which provides support for "communication" with other smart gadgets (primarily , with fitness bracelets and smartphones).

Unfortunately, MAID (yet?) Doesn’t know how to cook. A person will still have to clean, chop, pour sauce and so on, a smart appliance can only create a list of ingredients, suggest (by voice message) and check the correct cooking time and temperature. So throw it into the furnace, press a couple of buttons and after a while get the finished, fragrant and beautiful dish, alas, it will not work.

The developers expect to deliver the first MAID samples in November 2015 at a price of $ 499.
