Interview with Anton Vedeshin, co-founder of 3D Conrtol Systems. Part 2

Today Fabbers offers to get acquainted with the second part of the interview with the co-founder of 3D Conrtol Systems - Vedeshin Anton.

For convenience, we added a video chat as well as
text of the interview under the spoiler.
F: - You said that while you are focused on large manufacturers of 3d printers, but what about small companies, private engineers, start-upers who develop their own 3d printers. And, for example, last week there was a 3D Print Show exhibition, where they presented a Russian 3D printer assembled by compatriots. You will work with them, with such small projects, or you will still prefer working with large market players.

A.V.: - We work from the bottom up and from top to bottom. Those. higt solutions for large corporations are, say, more of this for the future. Because, all these transactions are closed for long enough (terms-approx. Fabbers), there are a lot of nuances, a lot of negotiations, etc. It really takes a lot of time. this is what our investors and ourselves believe in. At the same time, we have, let's say, a lighter product, a more functional product - open systems for 3D printers - 3D PrinterOS is an open platform. any printer, any hack, application can be integrated there and, in principle, now we do not take any money for it. And in the future, it will also be like an android, in fact, everyone, a specific application, will choose whether he wants to take money for it or not. And we always, our ideology is such that we will always leave a free option for our end user. Say, if there are some sophisticated slicers that will cost money, then there will always be “near-heart” slicers in the system, for which you will not have to pay. those. for smaller manufacturers of 3D printing and for smaller manufacturers of CAD applications, of course this platform exists. And on it we hone, test various applications, then, in the next step, we include them in Secrured 3D - a more complex product, a more encrypted product. Of course this platform exists. F: - Thank you very much! And, just wondering, what major players in the 3D printing market do you work with?

A.V .: - I can not, unfortunately, give names. But, I think that very soon everyone will know about it.

F: - Intrigued us a bit! Tell me, how do you see the future of your project and its role in 3D printing?

A.V .: - Let's say the plan for the next 3-4 years is to integrate every printer that exists in the world and to integrate most of the applications that are useful to the end user. We also do our own development of sending 3D models both in the mathematical part and in the physical part. those. we ourselves will release a sufficient number of interesting applications for end users, which are currently not covered by other manufacturers.

F: - Actually, a lot of interesting information, so we will torment you with more questions, Anton. tell me, what other ideas in your company to create your own hardwar?

A.V .: - Our strategy is such that we do not want and will not compete with current players in the market, we are not a competitor to 3D printer manufacturers, not competitors for soft manufacturers, for CAD and for 3D printing. We do not in any way interfere with other players, we rather complement, connect together. Those. a parallel can be drawn with the Windows platform, the operating system, i.e. 50 years ago, computers, machines, stood separately, each computer used its own soft, its own standards, its own formats, and, in fact, no one thought that if he writes his application and it will work on all computers.
and let's say Microsoft and Bill Gates, they created a platform that can run
on a variety of computers. And the person who wrote the application can spread it on all these things. We strive for a similar ideology. And one of our current investors, this is Paul Alan, co-founder of Microsoft, he fully supports all of this, and in principle, our goal is to be this single platform for 3D printers, CAD applications, etc.

F: - So your duels are only in the world of 3D printing software?

A.V .: - Yes, we have thoughts that if third-party developers want to join our operating system through an open interface, using some kind of iron solution, for example, to determine the color of plastic, the quality of plastic, and even in a 3D printer, if we are talking about FDM printers. Or, say, if the plastic is over, he (the printer-approx. Fabbers) will stop and will wait until a person replaces the plastic. Things of this kind will be integrated, but again, they are produced by third-party manufacturers and we just give an interface and connect it to our operating system.

F: - Look, there is so much work done, didn’t you really think about creating your own 3D printer or 3D scanner.

A.V .: - Let's say half a year, or even a year ago, we discussed this a lot with the leading manufacturers of 3D printers, with whom we started building this platform, a system and learned from them what is really missing. In fact, we don’t see much money in iron, iron - it is getting cheaper every day, everyone is trying to create a printer cheaper, but at the same time it’s better. In principle, this is not our area, we are more focused on software, on which, we believe, you can earn significantly more money.

F .: - One step back to our previous dialogue, i.e. small software developers, with some of their beginnings can join you?

A.V .: - Yes, of course! And this is one of the main ideas that you do not need to develop applications from scratch. Because many: both libraries and connectors, they already exist as a base in the operating system. We already get the printer’s picture from the webcam, we already do such things, for example, if a person wants to determine if the plastic has run out purely from a video image, he can calculate the stream that goes and make an application that will send SMS or write emails or just show to the system in red (color approx. Fabbers) that this printer has run out of plastic or is printing in the air.

F .: - Thank you! In fact, we heard a lot of interesting answers today. And if you can last, and maybe not quite a modest question. Who are your investors? Is there any monetary basis for your further development?

A.V .: - At the moment, we have received an investment from the venture capital fund of Paul Alan co-founder Microsoft, I do not want to name a specific amount. At the moment, we will soon close Series A, for which there is already a line of investors who want to invest their money.

F .: - Anton, thanks for the interesting interview! We all saw that Secured 3D is a completely breathing, living, developing company that does not repel the opportunity to work with small manufacturers of 3D printers, as well as with newcomers to the developers. Thank you very much, I hope to see you soon. Till!

    A.V .: - Thank you! Till!

This was the final part of the interview with Anton Vedeshin. Thanks for attention.
