Targeted click of the advertising budget in Y. Direct

Advertising budget, tricky business. That is, it is no longer there. And this can happen not because your advertisement, in search of Yandex, worked really well and a lot of interested customers followed it, but also because your competitors decided to spend some of their money so that you lose yours.

Is it legal? Is it possible to? Yes, but first things first.

At the end of the article I will tell you why you should not engage in such activities and what it might be fraught for you.

When you understand that the advertising budget has merged and yielded zero result

Recently, I began to notice that more and more robots began to move to the site, according to advertising. They sit on the page from 2 to 5 seconds, sometimes 10 each. Failures increase, money per click is written off, viewing depth decreases, behavioral drops.

I used to think that this was just a coincidence, no one is intentionally doing this, who generally needs to bother. But how wrong I was.

At one point, I received a call from the manager of a company that is engaged in advertising budget splitting in Y. Direct. Moreover, according to them, for this purpose they developed a special robot that fully emulates user behavior and is not recognized by Yandex as a bot. Looks at the search, clicks on different links, but the main task is to click on the first three advertising links, under the search bar. And if you are a client of this company, then the address of your site is put on a white list and no one will follow your links.

At first I decided that this was another breeder. Give us money, we will remove competitors and other noodles. I began to become interested in this company in the forums and directly at Yandek himself.

On the forums, of course, there were a lot of strange reviews and comments. Angry, laudatory and others, nothing worth attention. But Yandex’s answer puzzled me.

It turns out that Yandex is well aware of these guys. But nothing but, "We are trying, money is not written off for bots, let them exist," they do not want to do. Yes, the price tag for these guys is quite substantial, with an average of 45-50 thousand prepayment. But there are also many people who are willing to spend such an amount. In some business niches, such an amount is spent on advertising for a couple of weeks, or even days.

After a little searching the forums, I found some interesting reviews and comments, sort of like a Yandex employee.

As it turned out, the problem has been relevant since 2015. But Yandex seems to have done nothing significant. The company exists to this day, and seems to be successful.

As for ordinary users, whose budgets may suffer. To agree to the services of these guys or not, it's up to you. But you need to remember one truth:

Even if you paid for a competitor’s click, he can also pay for the click of your ad. No whitelisting can help. After all, if in the end everyone will cooperate, then whom should they call?

And how to deal with such skirmishes?

It is worthwhile to immediately understand the important point:
Nothing, 100%, will save you from click fraud, draining budgets and other things.

    1. The first thing that came to my mind was Webvisor Y. Metriky. It’s
not very difficult to track the transitions and analyze the behavior, but it is time consuming, plus you need to prove to Yandex somehow that it really was a bot, and not you yourself want to get your budget back.
    2. You can analyze the logs of visits, but this is for those who know at least a little about this. Some do not even have access to the logs. Not to mention being able to analyze some kind of visits there. Again, try to prove that this is real data, not your tricky move.
    3. Do not order services from similar companies. After all, to get on the so-called white list. You must provide the addresses of sites to which the robot should not go. And who knows that this white list will not go black tomorrow.

Still decided to order a competitor?

    Then consider the following:

    • If the transitions are really carried out and are defined as real people, not bots, then you will merge the budget with a competitor, there is no doubt about it. But did you take into account that the competitor’s CTR can increase in proportion to the number of clicks?
    • As we know, the higher the CTR, the cheaper the clicks in the future. You can spend your money trying to dislodge a competitor’s ad, draining his budget. At first, you might even succeed, but when his CPC starts to fall, and your costs for bots grow, because you have to click more, then you will realize that you spent your budget and time in vain.
    • The amount spent on clicks could be thrown into your advertising company and get good customers. But alas, you gave the money incomprehensibly to someone, it is unclear why, and the competitor began to spend less on advertising.
    • Perhaps your data was saved in the system that you used. And it is possible that as soon as you stop paying, you will be asked to continue. And perhaps when you refuse, you yourself will become a victim of a sklick, but the bots will be free already and will carry it out, putting you out of the blacklist.
