Digmus - case blockchain: counterfeit verification

    It so happened that since the summer of this year, ICO projects have become more thoughtful and decided to turn their eyes to the most unnecessary, worthless, even incomprehensible and unworthy, probably mentioning people - ... lawyers.

    There were so many views that on the day they turned into 15-17 full-fledged applications, far from each of which was something new, if you do not take into account the thesis: “let's make an ICO and light it up!” .

    The burning really started, but nothing came of this sensible for the majority: let's say, there was a whole week of arrival of projects devoted to p2p lending. Another week was marked by developers. Next - seven days about loyalty programs. In general, originality decided to smother itself with the banality of everyday life and the frailty of being, hiding the potential of the creative in unknown ideas about huge, simply nightmare, impossible gatherings.

    But the world always consists of differences: sensible projects began to come, albeit not in such numbers. Among them are those whom I have already talked about: kickico, descrow, pluscoin, eloplay and others. And recently, another star of adequacy and love for the code flashed on the horizon - https://digmus.io/ (the most interesting is at the end).

    About her and will be discussed.

    In short, the definition of a service is: a decentralized platform for verifying the authenticity of goods. Logically, given the capabilities of the blockchain; just because retail, in my opinion, is the very first industry where blockchain in general should be in demand; openly, since the fight against counterfeiting does not imply another. At least in the context of decentralized systems.

    To make it a little clearer how much the team is involved in the process, I recommend reading their post on the Medium, devoted to comparing services of this kind, which also gives a small but capacious excursion into history.

    Immediately to what I liked about the project:

    1. The story is not local - scalable: it is applicable in any geolocation from the point of view of coordination and any jurisdiction from the position of law;
    2. The story is honest: it is based on the fact that the scalability effect lays in the process of educating consumers in assessing the quality of goods;
    3. What is especially good for Habr - the set of IT specialists is higher than the industry average (surprisingly or even paradoxically this will sound);
    4. The White Paper is not an ideal, but it is completely structured to give a “credit” rating. It is also a rarity in the modern ICO market.

    What did not like:

    1. The mechanism of combating gray marks is not entirely clear when they multiply in the nth quantity and are transported to different weights of our country (or not ours);
    2. The social component, on the other hand, is in my opinion, perhaps even a scrupulous one, the look worked out much worse than the technical one: the bias of the it-shnikov apparently plays a role here too;
    3. The project’s disclaimers are one and a half pages long: I understand that this is the standard for the industry, but I always have a question, but what remains :)

    Seriously, the service’s functionality is stated as follows (see below):

    Everything is extremely simple: there is a Digmus blockchain, there is a QR code - this is the scheme of the buyer and the manufacturer who are interested in selling and buying non-counterfeit goods.

    Another plus of the platform is an adequate assessment of development: $ 1,000,000. However, even this figure will be criticized (haters will always be found), but taking into account time, labor and other costs, it causes even respect.

    As for the concept, my personal opinion is that its minimalism is the reason why such projects should be born: after all, everyone knows that unique bottles of soda, the intricate design of tooth counters, incomprehensible forms of jars for jam and so on - are not just about marketing and merchandising, logistics and aesthetics, but also about authenticity.
    And most importantly, having delved into the topic (since about this spring), I can say that this is not a problem of small or medium, but also not a problem of large ones - this is a problem for everyone: large ones can lose on constant supplies, and small ones on uniqueness, for which they so fight, say, in a mill of honey, taiga products, handicrafts and similar fields.

    In addition, such an approach is very, very necessary in such a field as commodity aggregators, which are now pushing the world forward (it is not known for sure where exactly, but what is forward for sure): it is enough to recall Aliexpress or E-bay. After all, it is beneficial for them that sellers sell what is declared, because in this case, the loyalty of not only the buyer, but also the user of the platform increases, although this is one person, but he has different functions.

    Not without reason, even today, when ICOs in China are in fact banned, the site still contains a translation into this beautiful, but incomprehensible language?

    By the way, if we talk about the 4T (4K) technique, here Digmus will give odds to many:

    1. It is easy to verify the team, but it’s easy to get in touch with it;
    2. About the concept already described everything;
    3. Coin has a story that is understandable and simple, although not unique from that: “in the Digmus system, all transactions in the blockchain (creating a new company, creating a type of goods, creating a unit of goods, recording information about the movement of a unit of goods, etc.) are paid in domestic currency systems - genuineness or GEN. Of the coins spent on the transaction, most of it is destroyed, and the smaller part is transferred to the miner as a reward. ”
    4. Code: can be found demo. Let's say on Android. About him - a little more detailed: again - Habr contributes to this.

    I’ll say right away to everyone who will ask questions about how the prototype was made, that with careful reading of the White Paper the answer will become obvious (but for hyper-obviousness - I will post it here):

    the prototype will be implemented on a centralized basis due to the ease of development. Starting with the beta version and for further development, the transition to its own blockchain will be carried out

    I have a double attitude towards Graphene, but we will leave it the next time.

    Checking - you can’t imagine it easier, you can’t do it either: we go to the site https://digmus.io/demo/ and use the QR reader (aka camera :) to make a reconciliation. I will also say that the guys obviously did not bother with marketing: it is understandable - education does not allow it.

    But, I note that this appeals to me: multi-million dollar projects supposedly done for centuries and exclusively for “global needs” in 99% of cases - if not fake, then scam, if not scam, then dust. Here, everything is aimed at ensuring that the process is open and transparent.

    I tested the application: on Note II and the new J7. It works smoothly. I didn’t see any problems. There was a crash on the old Note II, but fixed, for which - a separate thank you and plus. But the information is still not enough: I think there must be unique codes (strokes?) So that the binding is to one, not a batch, say. iPhone can still be tested in beta: there is no access through the AppStore, but they will send an email, be sure.

    And one more interesting fact that we geeks should like: here is more detailed about it http://telegra.ph/CHto-takoe-RFID-i-NFC-10-18 : the fact is that Digmus was recently received for testing brand new NFC-chips with built-in cryptography from the company NXP and look forward to a detailed story about this on Habré, but for now - I recommend to plunge into the project through WP longridhttps://digmus.io/wp/Digmus_WP_RU.pdf or short specks of technical wisdom on the site https://digmus.io/ .

    May the Force of Honesty of Chains be with you :)

    PS By the way, part of the team is definitely on Habré: I think she will have something to answer questions.
