ArcaOS 5.0 - the new version of OS / 2 became available to the general public

. The system was developed in partnership with Microsoft (then the company went its own way and began developing Windows), which imposed certain restrictions on the distribution of source codes.
And a few years later a new version of ArcaOS 5.0 appeared, which acts as an update for both eCS ( eComStation - a modified version of OS / 2, nevertheless released with the permission of IBM), and OS / 2 and can work with native applications of OS systems / 2, Windows 3.1 and DOS.
The operating system runs on Intel Pentium Pro, AMD K6 or higher processors, but only in 32-bit mode. Extension CSM (Compatibility Support Module) allows the system to work on UEFI-machines, it also supports the work with audio files and USB-devices. Any modules (including wireless ones) with chipsets supporting MultiMac, GenMAC, etc. will be able to bring ArcaOS 5.0 to the network. VirtualBox, VMware ESXi, and VirtualPC can also work with the new system.
The version for personal use now costs $ 99, a commercial solution will cost $ 229. For both products, the developers promise to provide regular updates.
