What is motivation in fact: what desires do we ignore most

My previous article turned out to be very popular with the residents of Habr and therefore, with your permission, I will develop the topic a little.

In fact, the key idea of my view on motivation is: “Back to the roots!” In the sense that I want to get to the root causes, to the fundamental principles of the human psyche. To the extent that, in principle, leads (or does not) us in motion. To our desires, motives, needs.

But, since in the previous article I pointed out that there are many desires and all of them must be taken into account, let's try to think about what desires we do not take into account. And, guided by the principle of "Back to the roots!", Let's determine what desires are the basis of everything.

To do this, let's look at the stuck in the teeth, but still largely true "Maslow's pyramid." Don’t worry, we’ll also consider it differently from how you’re already tired!

So here is the pyramid. The pyramid, as you know, has a top and ... a base. Base? Yes exactly! We say, “Back to the roots!” Or, in other words, to the basics.

What is in our foundation? At the base, we have physiological needs. Or, let's say a little differently - the desire of the body.

The desires of the body, I note - this is not only to eat, drink, sleep. This is how our whole body functions and how it moves. What movements he makes. What poses does it take? How each of the internal organs works.

And now this level, fundamental level, the level at which everything else is held - in modern man, as a rule, is ignored the most. And with us, with programmers, it’s generally so outside. Almost all of our work does not require the participation of the body at all. No wonder we forget about him.

And that means, most likely, it is precisely the dissatisfaction of the needs of the body that blocks our satisfaction of the needs of higher levels.

Well, okay, you have to do something with the body. What is there to do? After all, we certainly do not want to do exercises ... Stop, why don't we? This is the realization of the needs of the body, because we must want it, according to everything that is written above!

And here we go back to the previous article. The essence of which boiled down to the fact that it was uselessly stupidly casting “motivating” techniques on oneself — we must first figure out what we really want.

And with the body - the same thing. We must not stupidly cast exercises on ourselves from school physical education, but figure out what exactly our body needs right now. Explore the true desires of your own body.

And here usual care will help us. Start listening to your body. Pay attention to what it feels pleasure from, and from what - suffering. What kind of movements does he like. What are the poses. What a meal. And so on and so forth. Examine all the details.

And then, I think, it suddenly turns out that with a competent restructuring of working with your body, you and other desires will feel in yourself. Higher level. Because at this higher level, the foundation has finally appeared.

And I believe that this works for all other levels of the Maslow pyramid. If you have a "plug" at a higher level - pay attention to the lower. Most likely, the reason for the plug is inside them.

I ask you to leave comments in the comments about the results of using this advice, unless, of course, you want to follow it. However, if you do not want to - write too. But we want to understand what we really want, and not stupidly cast my articles on ourselves, right? :)
