Tips - how to understand more, remember longer

We all want to become professionals in our field as soon as possible. We all want to have a phenomenal memory, to remember everything the first time, to perceive new technologies on the fly.

With a few tricky principles, we can achieve this. To do this, we do not need to have a phenomenal memory from birth.

Post decided to write briefly and on the case, without lengthy explanations and examples. Why do you need them? The trick is easy to try in practice. Didn't help? Forget it. Helped? Use always.

This is what helped and is helping me. I hope you find it at least somehow useful. Some of the tips repeats those already set forth in similar articles.

    1. OutlineIf this is a new multifaceted concept - first think on paper / typing, not limiting yourself to anything. Draw memory cards. And then - use Evernote, quizlet and even Anki to formulate a new fact in the form of a short Question / Answer. I advise Anki that it does not have a modern interface, but this program itself reminds you when you should once again go over the list of questions, recalling the answers. This should be done at regular intervals - I will not bring them here, there are a lot of detailed articles.
I warn you - it’s very tiring to form a question / answer for each fact, however, using the recall system, you can remember a huge number of nuances and features. Super memory, as it turned out, is not necessary.

    2. Record yourself on the recorder.Turn on the recorder and talk about what you learned. The recording can then be erased. The fact itself is important - it seems to you that you are speaking, they are listening to you, you begin to formulate your thoughts in a different way. This contributes to in-depth study.
You can even turn on the recorder on your mobile phone, walk down the street / stand in line and broadcast. People will think that you are talking on the phone, you will not embarrass anyone.

    3. Share new knowledge with others. It is not necessary to share in the "professor" - "student" mode. You can reflect with the interlocutor, ask his opinion. You need to do this on Skype, and in person, and even by phone (which, apparently, is the most difficult).

    4. Continually expand your circle of communication.Find "colleagues", ask them about their professional development, ask clarifying questions. With tools such as Skype or social networks, you can simultaneously correspond with many interesting people. Your horizons will expand reactively and will help you out more than once.

    5. Read by scanning material. There is no time to study everything that I wanted. You can quickly go over the articles, the textbook. Some pieces will be deposited in memory. Later, when you stumble upon a problem, associative thinking will suggest that “you have already seen a solution somewhere”. This gives confidence that the problem is solvable, removes the state of vacuum, when there is a problem and there are absolutely no thoughts on how to approach it and whether it can be solved at all.

    6. Read in transport / in line / at any wait. It's amazing how much time we spend traveling to and from work, standing in lines and so on. If you spend 2 hours a day on the road, then 10 hours a week (more than a working day!), And 40 hours a month (work week!). Imagine how much you can learn during this time.
If you're driving, listen to podcasts and radio.

    7. When studying, condemn to yourself or out loud the emotional cues of the movie characters. 'Let's see what we have here!', 'Here is your grandmother, and St. George's Day!' (examples from the ceiling). This will quickly give your training an emotional coloring, cheer up, speed up the perception of the material.

    8. Add new elements of perception - sound, tactility.Complicated advice, however, can also speed up learning. It is often said that what you read must be imagined improves perception. But technical texts are difficult to visualize. Instead, you can, for example, imagine how a tower crane builds a house out of blocks. In the text “firstly ...” - your crane installed the first block-floor, you “heard” the sound “thump”, “felt” the weight of the new block. In the text “secondly ...” - your crane installed the second block floor, heard “bam”, felt how “hard it became” to the first block.

Everyone can have their own idea. The crane example is an attempt to explain the approach. “But the crane does not reflect any knowledge,” you say. Its task is not to reflect knowledge, but to create an emotional coloring and strengthen your concentration.

    9. Learn a little new materials on vacation
Yes, you came to rest, not to study. However, take some time to study the material on the seashore / on the background of mountains / on the deck of a pleasure yacht. Then, when you study the material further, you can feel the pleasure and enthusiasm - because in your mind the topic you are studying is associated with relaxation and beauty.

    10. Start learning material from books like “For Dummies”. Like all previous tips, this tip is controversial. But what is the profit? In books such as "For Dummies" or "Head First," the material is described as an example of funny and funny situations. Thus, the first acquaintance with a new area in you is associated with humor and a little entertainment. In the future, you will deepen your knowledge and recall the “first experience” of humor, which will raise your spirits, create an emotional mood, and improve your perception.

Try it, share your impressions. Thanks for attention!
