While I was rapidly recovering from the recent “crash”, my colleagues did not waste time and baked new test versions, like pies, sometimes giving out a few cooks per day. Following the recommendations of the doctors, I did not fuss and run online for any reason, but slowly went down from the hospital bed and rewrote all the announcements in one. Here I bring it to your attention.

So, what’s new happened from my previous post. Firstly, I was discharged from the hospital: the functioning of the heart was fully restored, even without the traditional heart attack scars on the heart muscle. Thank you all so much for your support and kind words - everything could have been different without you. And secondly, my colleagues and I have come close to the release of the first stable version of the browser. This explains the high rate of release of new assemblies (a total of four versions) - there is a process of eliminating the latest deficiencies.

However, as we all know, there are no recent shortcomings - modern software is a complex product, so it’s physically impossible to prepare a version that does not contain flaws at all: the product’s readiness for release is determined approximately as in the picture below.


True, in the case of browsers, the process looks slightly different: at this stage we are trying to achieve smooth and stable operation of the basic capabilities of Vivaldi, with which users work daily and in bulk. At the same time, of course, a certain part of users who are accustomed to squeeze the maximum possible out of their software are not immune from unexpected browser work. However, let's get closer to the point.

We have improved the process of importing data from other browsers. In particular, it became possible to import from Opera 12 passwords protected by a master password. Fixed a bug with capital letters during address completion, as well as a bug with deleting user thumbnails from the Express panel when clearing the browser history.
