Magento 2.0 Release Candidate Released
On November 5, 2015, after many months of development, the first release of the Magento 2 candidate was published on GitHub and expects both the criticism and active participation in the development from its community.
A full and fairly voluminous changelog can be found here.
I will only briefly tell you about the main changes in the release candidate.
Performance enhancements
- Optimization in the Magento Framework, refactoring of observer classes
- Catalog Search Improvements
- Optimization of the process of initializing stores and loading data
Payment Methods
- Implemented eWay payment gateway
- Improvements to PayPal Express Checkout and Braintree
Payment Process Improvements
- Consistency of user and basket data during the purchase process is implemented
- Improved payment information input form design and error handling
Product Component Improvements
- Added a number of new features in configurable products
- Added notifications to users about changes to product information
Magento Framework Enhancements
- Refactor "observers"
- HHVM and PHP 7 compatible
- A large number of improvements related to the component "data grid"
- Product catalog image generator improvements
- Implemented community recommendations for improving the frontend and admin panel
- JavaScript component enhancements
- On-the-fly auto generation API documentation
- Removing code with an obsolete status
In addition to the above, in the full list there are two dozen points of changes and improvements in CMS, WebApi, during the initial installation of Magento, Sample data and other components. And of course, the changes coming from the active part of the vast Magento community are not forgotten: 60 pull-request were included in the release candidate, fixing bugs and improving a significant part of the functionality of Magento 2.
Despite the extended release dates, Magento 2.0 Release is coming :)
