Envato says goodbye to Flash and ActiveDen

On September 21, Envato , one of the largest digital content sales players, announced the closure of its ActiveDen project, which specializes in Macromedia Adobe Flash and everything related to it.

Here's what the company blog says :

As you all know, we work in a very moving and fast-growing industry.

Technology comes and goes, and our survival depends on whether we keep up with the changes to satisfy our customers.

We should also focus on where we can make the most impact, so as to maximize opportunities for creators.

Therefore, today, against this background, we announce the closure of ActiveDen (this is our part that sells Flash, for the uninitiated).

This is a big deal, not only for our authors, customers and partners, but for the entire Envato community. ActiveDen was the first brick in the Envato creative ecosystem and its success paved the way for the market and products that followed.

Fast forward to 9 years ago in 2006. Collis was the author of Flash files, earning modest revenue on iStockphoto websites. Together with our co-founders Cyan and Jun, he saw an opportunity for a specialized Flash market and community.

    ActiveDen was born shortly after.

Now the market has moved away from Flash, for a number of reasons (including HTML5). After much deliberation, we decided that this was the right time to say goodbye.

ActiveDen's retirement will take place over the coming months and includes the following main steps:

September 21, 2015: announcement of the upcoming closing
October 21, 2015: authors will no longer be able to post files
November 2016: ActiveDen will be completely turned off. Buyers will no longer be able to purchase new files or download existing purchases, authors will also no longer be able to access their files. Make sure you upload your files before this date!

Only registered users can participate in the survey. Please come in.
