Model S cars can now be given personal names

Tesla Motors has released the next update of Model S. software. Software v6.0 will arrive on electric sedans in the coming days .

One of the new features: now the owner of a Model S car can give his pet an official name. This name will be displayed in the mobile application on the smartphone and on the screen of the car computer, in the section "About Your Tesla".

Since 2012, Tesla Motors has repeatedly upgraded the car. Among other things, they added a “smart” suspension mode, a system of assistance when starting uphill, sleep mode and much more.

Here are some new features in firmware 6.0.

Navigation tips for traffic jams and detours. Tesla Model S begins to monitor the situation on the roads even before the driver got behind the wheel. And if he goes along the traditional route, which today is suddenly closed for repairs or due to traffic jams, then immediately after switching on the car will advise an alternative route - a pop-up window will appear on the 17-inch panel. Accordingly, the laying of routes to unfamiliar places now also takes into account traffic information.

The night power-saving mode and the ability to remotely connect from a smartphone so that the car does not exit sleep mode.

Starting a car from a smartphone. If the driver has forgotten the car keychain (“ignition key”), now it can turn on the car by entering the password in the mobile application.

Diary: scheduled events from the diary on the smartphone are displayed on the car screen. If you indicate the location of the event on your smartphone, then you do not need to re-enter the coordinates in the navigation system.

Adjusting the air suspension from memory of past actions of the driver on a particular section of the road (in coordinates). The function is relevant for those cars that are equipped, in fact, with this mechanism. For example, if the driver each time he approached the house, he increased the car's clearance to overcome the obstacle, then Model S will now do this automatically.

PS It's nice that modern cars are updated as programs on the computer. A car with some basic firmware over the course of several years of upgrade can gradually upgrade to a business class car (just kidding).
