Cash Register Design

Here is our old check , which is printed almost throughout the network. If you look closely, there is a lot of useful information on it, but there is absolutely no spirit of friendliness and at least some minimal aesthetics.

At the same time, each of our customers takes a check with them, and it’s simply silly not to use it. As well as adding some usefulness to a piece of paper.

At the top of the check to the word "Sale" there is metadata that is required. Legal entity, data about the device, date and time, who struck and so on. More welcome, of course, “Welcome!” Is an example of a text that is once clogged in KKM, and is always printed there. We cut it out.

Metadata has a problem. If you ever looked for a check on a heap because you need it, you knew that finding a company by legal entity is not a trivial task. That is, finding a check at home is a difficult task of recognizing not the check itself, but a specific purchase in it. And matching with the store.

Just see how this piece is incredibly cool implemented by Tiffany in the USA:

Purely technically, we can do this too. Another thing is that we rely on the firmware features of a number of devices used on the network: we want to make the check more beautiful, and not to start total refactoring associated with costs. Therefore, it turns out that all the iron supports the top image printing. That is, the cap will remain strangely arranged, but the main problem - recognition - we will solve.

Yes, when saving data in a header, you can write anything there before them - you don’t have to think that the area is fixed.

Next in the check is the area of a specific transaction. This is a list of items with names, their number in the check, amount and discount. It’s what we have, what looks like ugly in Africa: The

main problem is hyphenation and extra decimal places. Here we asked the lawyer whether it is mandatory to write 2,000 pieces and 150.00 rubles. It turned out that it was not even necessary. But it turned out that the firmware of our oldest devices on the network is such that we won’t be able to change it, even if we really want to. Alas, you cannot climb into this part.

Next is the fiscal mark, everything is visually normal in it.

    More meta

At the bottom of the check, you can also write different things. After the fiscal mark, the contents of the check are also not regulated, and you can enter anything there. Only the text will turn off in the center. Here, for example:

Or here is a much more utilitarian application - a recharge card in Norway on a check:

    More features

Here are the adult boys allocating the total amount of the discount for the buyer:

It's nice to know how much you saved, agree.

Here the guys print the return conditions and a bar code to immediately use it and make a return in a matter of seconds (without looking for an order by hand):

Here's a lottery ticket on the check:

As a result, we thought that on the check I want:
    • Provide recognition and simplify the search on the heap - the logo is on top.
    • What can be improved in the technical part (but we are limited by firmware)
    • Leave the store’s phone number on the check, and the phone number of the regional main.
    • Add some advertising, it's almost like a flyer.
    • The check is most often needed when returning. It is logical to write the return conditions directly on it for simplification. Less misunderstanding.
    • In addition, our customers often ask us when the next discount threshold will be on their savings card. Since we do not send SMS to our customers, it is logical to print data on the receipt.
    • Here another moment was revealed - a check can be an anonymous discount card for those who do not want to leave their data. Right on it you can give a discount on the next purchase in this scenario.

Here is the prototype at an early stage (of course, there shouldn’t be any color):

And here is the result adapted for the oldest firmware. He is a little vyriglazen, but already noticeably better than option number 1. “Welcome”, it’s not gone away, but I believe we will defeat him.

A fiscal mark is also added here, it is not on the test ones.

Theoretically, you can print everything between the logo and the deal, below the result. But after the tests it turns out that this threatens with dancing with a tambourine, so in this version we raise everything up. We start at one store, test a week, identify bugs. The main point is that all firmware must be given text with letters, not with a picture: this greatly speeds up the printing of a check. Now the updated version is running in another 5 different stores on different devices.

Bottom line - useful information appeared on the check that really helps the buyer. Plus, he himself became at least a little, but better.

Another key point - the check has become dynamic. It shows the current status of the discount and answers the basic questions of the buyer at the time of sale.

What else can be done if the firmware does not allow?

On the way to vyrviglaznoy adaptation for the simplest devices, we considered two more options for information with a check. Perhaps they will be useful to you:
    1. You can print on the cash register from the back. So do some supermarkets. A picture is applied there, which is regularly repeated. You can enter the return conditions, regional senior and other static information. With dynamics, alas, a bummer. But it’s cheap and cheerful.
    2. Expensive stores put a check in a book, which can contain quite a lot of advertising. The operation is done by hand, books are easier and easier to update than tape. If you bought children's goods - you can attach a check with a stapler to the “crust” with recommendations for children's goods, if an adult - with adults and so on.

A check may contain useful information. You can draw pictures on a check. A check can be interactive: vary from any status in the database from the discount level to personal recommendations. On the check, you can do a mini-FAQ of what is important to your customers. And the check is advertising material that people throw away less often than the rest. All this can be used.
