The Rosetta mission: a journey to comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko through the eyes of the discoverer of the comet

Today I came across very interesting news: the Rosetta mission, about which more than once or twice was written on Habré, was told by the discoverer of comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko himself. This is Klim Ivanovich Churyumov , who in May gave a lecture on this subject.

The lecture will probably be of interest only to those who are interested in space and spacecraft, but for that the Cosmonautics hub.

As for the mission itself, it consists in landing the Phil module on a comet. The module is located onboard the Rosetta interplanetary station. By the way, this station and module are already close to the comet - about half a million kilometers.

Here is a 3D mission simulator, where you can study in detail all the stages, and see who, where and why flies.

And here is the lecture itself:

The lecture was held on May 23 at the House of Scientists, Kiev.
