Distribution, environment, window manager of Linux at home?
The purpose of the polls is to find out the “balance of power" on home computers and laptops. In all surveys, you can choose several options.
The first survey about operating systems is not the main goal, he added it, so as not to offend those who do not use Linux. It will not show the real relationship, because this post is posted only in the hubs "Linux" and "Operating Systems".
Previous distribution polls:
Which free OS distributions do you use? - January 13, 2010
What Linux distributions do you use on desktops? - November 27, 2011
Previous polls about workspaces and shells:
your home “work environment”? - June 15, 2007
Which desktop do you mainly use?- July 17, 2009
What work environment do you usually use? - January 11, 2012
Your main linux desktop environment - May 22, 2012
For accuracy, the elementary OS distribution option and the Mutter / Muffin window managers were added when there were already about 200 votes, dwm , i3 and StumpWM window managers about 300 votes , window managers Metacity / Marco and OLWM - approximately 450 votes, working environment Trinity - 1150 votes.
This will help to estimate how many votes these options have lost, because they were not from the very beginning.
Compared with the previous poll two and a half years ago:
Growing up: The
beginner elementary OS is already in 6th-7th place in popularity, overtaking old people like openSUSE and CentOS.
Mint + 60%
Arch + 30%
With my own / hard to say: Debian , Gentoo , Fedora , CentOS .
Fall:
Ubuntu -15%, but still dominates, overtaking Debian 3 times, and Mint even more. I still don’t understand where the fable came from about the fact that Mint is the most popular distribution.
Mandriva , openSUSE , Slackware .
