Keyboard from LEGO

I was always amazed that people from the LEGO constructor just didn’t build: from huge figures of robots and starships to 3D printers and full-blown working maps. LEGO has stood the test of time. Even 65 years after his invention, LEGO designs still fascinate us. Today I present to you another work of art - a keyboard from LEGO.

This fully functioning keyboard is the brainchild of a LEGO enthusiast, Jason Allemann. Jason's first prototype was based on the 2005 Microsoft Natural keyboard, but was never implemented due to form complexity. The latest version of the LEGO keyboard was created from an old regular rectangular keyboard that Jason found on the street.

All keys are held by axes from the LEGO Technic series. The entire QWERTY layout is located on top of the push buttons and the circuit board. As you can see in the video below, some keys are rather unusual in design. For example, a roof-shaped button is for the home button, a tile image for the control button, and a baseball cap on top of the Caps Lock. The most important thing in this keyboard is that all keys can be quickly replaced without much effort.

Despite my doubts about the ease of use of such a keyboard, Jason claims: "Almost the same as any other keyboard, only a little interferes with the deflection at the edge of the frame."

It remains to make a LEGO mouse for a complete set.
