IBM Bought Cloudant - CouchDB Based DBaaS

February 24, IBM announced the takeover of a private company from Boston Cloudant.
Cloudant aims to expand IBM’s own capabilities in Big Data, analytics, cloud computing and mobile development tools.
It will also give a new impetus to the development of the open Apache CouchDB database and Cloudant's own fork, BigCouch.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

According to Cloudant representatives, nothing will change for customers
