“Matrix ASCII” - the oldest “live” distribution of a torrent file is 10 years old

Ten years ago, the Internet did not look at all what it is today. Torrent trackers like Pirate Bay and Torrentz were just created, and Facebook and YouTube did not exist at all. BitTorrent technology was also very young at the time, and few knew what it was. Nevertheless, torrent trackers became more and more popular, getting more and more users who began to understand what advantages this technology gives. It was then, 10 years ago, that a fan version of the film “The Matrix” was created, and this author decided to distribute this fan version through torrents.

By the way, none of the thousands of people who downloaded this torrent over the past 10 years have been prosecuted, as well as the creator, so the file can be downloaded without fear of being punished by Warner Bros., which owns the rights to the film.

So, “Matrix ASCII” is the same “Matrix”, which is made in green ASCII characters (well, of course, why). This is a black and green video file, the value of which is now not at all in the idea, but in that the file is already 10 years old, and the distribution is still active. And this means that "Matrix ASCII" is the oldest "live" distribution of all.

The file was first posted on December 20, 2003. A few weeks later (January 16, 2004), the distribution was complemented by an ASCII-style DVD cover. And here is the site of this miracle .
