[Female look] Highscreen Omega Prime Mini review: smartphone with five multi-colored panels included

In the last couple of years, it has always amazed me that smartphone manufacturers are chasing processor cores and gigahertz and other purely geek parameters. At the same time, completely ignoring the girlish part of the consumer market, which wants to give itself to loved ones is a female (or feminine?) Smartphone. Only the La Fleur mini-line from Samsung comes to mind. But when they demand 7,000 rubles (~ $ 218) for the Samsung Galaxy S Duos La Fleur, and not very designer rejected B-brands for 4,000 rubles (~ $ 125) with similar (or even better) characteristics are standing next to the shelf , you won’t get rid of certain thoughts. In general, being a girl interested in mobile topics, I could not pass by the new Highscreen Omega Prime Mini. For those who regularly complain about the lack of information before the kata, I state: 4.3 inches, qHD, Qualcomm MSM8225Q,

I will allow myself some more girlish lyrics, so if you want to "get to the point" - feel free to skip this paragraph. So, the announcements of smartphones have always been saddening to me, where the picture from the photo of the model in different color cases was attached. You look at such a scattering rainbow and rejoice, at first. Then in harsh reality, you choose one single color, and if you find alternative covers, it’s with great difficulty. In the best case, if the model is from a large manufacturer and in addition is interesting to third-party suppliers of those same caps. Alas, the idea of a complete assortment of panels was not widely adopted - apart from the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini, you will not remember anything particularly worthy. 1998 and Nokia 5110 does not count - because we are talking about a set of “out of the box”. Earlier, I saw the Highscreen Omega Prime model on Highscreen and the one with the ending XL, with black / white / light green caps included, but the diagonal of 4.7 or 5.3 inches, respectively, I am not very attracted. Although, judging by my observations, many girls find it convenient to have a conversation, holding a smartphone by the ear with both hands.

    Equipment

The eco-friendly recycled cardboard box is small, but tall. It’s immediately clear that here “it’s not so simple”. A headset, a microUSB cable, a charging unit, a manual and a guarantee - nothing special, both in terms of quality and quality (rather, this applies to the headset).

    Sockets

Generally speaking, it will not work to say about all the covers, which is good, there is a complete order with a variety of not only colors, but also surface textures.

I already wrote in the announcement that I was somewhat alarmed - three out of five panels were made by applying paint (as I understand it, in a couple of layers) on white plastic. After almost a week and a half, this fact does not bother me anymore, because the coating is of high quality, there are no hints of a tendency to “rip off”.

Two of the three such covers, red and orange, are additionally covered with a glossy layer, which also favorably affects the protection against “peeling”.

In general, it was these glossy covers that I liked the most: the colors are very juicy, with such a will or not you will not allow yourself to use inferior nail polish. With the red lid, I was drawn to stick the Ferrari emblem, because it would have looked very harmonious here (well, or “harmoniously”).

The matte blue cover looks no less cool, but I did not like the "deep" marks, stains after operation. The situation is better than softtach plastic, but still.

In terms of the ratio of practicality and aesthetics, my favorite is the white cover. Because instead of the usual white surface there is a wonderful matte pearl color coating. Overflows in the light - my respect, five points. Plus, the mark is the minimum of all five alternatives.

I won’t say anything special about the black panel, there is no soft-touch plastic, there are questions about soiled.

    Design and controls

In my opinion, the 4.3-inch diagonal seems optimal for a not too large smartphone. On the 4-inch Highscreen Spark it was not very convenient for me to “surf”, and the 4.5-inch Highscreen Omega Q seemed nevertheless large. In the language of numbers, the dimensions look like this: 126.3 x 62.9 x 7.8 mm and 107 grams of weight. I summarize, the smartphone has a thin profile, and by weight it does not seem like a fluff, although the palm is not heavy. That is, when a smartphone weighs about 120 grams at 4.7-5 inches, it seems unnecessarily toyy to me.

I had serious concerns about the build quality, that is, the fit of the covers under the case. In Highscreen Omega Prime, creaks and backlashes were included in the kit, which I really did not want to find in the Highscreen Omega Prime Mini. Disappointment did not come, the panels are very tightly fitted and are in no way prone to making extraneous sounds or reeling. At first, I was embarrassed by the complete absence of recesses for prying off the covers. It turned out that they are not needed, the panels are excellently pry off and can be easily removed on absolutely any area, which you will rarely see. With sorrow I remember a nail broken in an unequal struggle with the cover of Highscreen Alpha R.

The set of sensors and other elements on the front side is standard, although there was still a place for one highlight. Instead of another variation on the theme of the three icons under the screen, there is only a small circle and two dots on either side of it. Yes, just like in Highscreen Boost 2. It looks stylishly non-standard, I really liked it. The backlight could be brighter, but I like it even more.

The button layout is the best possible. I don’t know for what reasons smartphones of any diagonal (especially 5-inch ones) put the power button on top. In Highscreen Omega Prime Mini, the keys are located on the sides and at such a height that they are “under the fingers” for both right-handed and left-handed people.

Below we see the microphone, above - the audio output and microUSB connector.

The lens on the back side did not stick out much, with a concise flash circle they form an outwardly aesthetic pair.

Under the cover is the pain and grief of the smartphone - a non-removable battery. How it was possible to make a non-removable battery in a powerful smartphone with a battery capacity of 1,600 mAh is not clear to me. Although this is better than the situation with the Highscreen Omega Prime, which with a removable, but the same capacity battery, “blown away” behind the Qualcomm MSM8225Q with a 4.5-inch screen.

There are two microSIM card slots, otherwise it was hard to expect. On the left is a slot for a memory card. I did not immediately realize that the card does not need power in a cavity ideally suited for the size, but it is pushed down under the sticker.

    Screen

At 4.3 inches with qHD we get 256 PPI, everything is just like in the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. Granularity is not striking, but zoom while surfing the web can not be avoided, albeit solely due to the size of the display. Screen coverage - glass, of course, not Gorilla Glass. I note that by default a “working” protective film is glued to the surface.

I had no complaints about the IPS-matrix; obviously, the cheapest model was installed. There is no strong distortion of colors, with large tilt angles, the brightness only slightly decreases. There isn’t enough oledophobic coverage, but I have seen much more dirty screens of smartphones. The light sensor is not buggy, I was behind the scenes with his decisions just a couple of times. It's great that in the “Sleep mode” settings tab there is a “Never” item, for some reason it is absent in many smartphones.

    Camera

On the frontal 2 megapixel module, I think, it’s not worth stopping in detail. And I am not fond of video calls or “visual” Skype calls. From the rear, one could assume the presence of a 5 megapixel module without autofocus, but it did. There are 8 megapixels and autofocus. The quality of the pictures is not even depressing at all and is somewhere above the level of Instagram cameras, which they try to hide their annoying pixelation with software filters. Even the Highscreen Omega Prime Mini macro photography more or less succeeds, and when I looked at the color rendition, I didn’t have the urge to do color correction in Photoshop.

The shooting application is the most standard for Android 4.1, zoom via multitouch is not supported, but on the right panel you can call up quick access to the flash, exposure, white balance and scenario preset parameters. In general, if a lady likes to receive high-quality photos in front of a mirror, the scope for improving pictures is more than wide.

    Performance and system

4 cores Qualcomm MSM8225Q with 1.2 GHz, Adreno 203, 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of ROM - this is the hardware platform of the smartphone. Girls will not understand this, because the productivity for VKontakte and 2D casuals is more than enough. I mean, there are no problems with stability, smoothness and speed. In general, in this regard, I liked Qualcomm MSM8225Q even on previous Highscreen smartphones. Now about what I did not like - the most-budget 4-core in the Snapdragon S4 line from the point of view of geeks does not greatly color the model. Although scolding Highscreen Omega Prime Mini is nothing, in the end, a budget smartphone - a budget processor. In addition, Highscreen still wins. Because the American Qualcomm instead of the Chinese MediaTek is +10 to charisma and -20 comments mentioning Aliexpress.

I'm not strong at analyzing benchmark results; see for yourself what happened with Highscreen Omega Prime Mini.

But with the games on the smartphone everything is so wonderful that even the braking ones in Plants vs. Zombies 2 smartphones on MTK6589 with Full HD displays will become envious. There is no logic at first glance, because Adreno 203 in theory should be limited to something like Angry Birds, and not “fall” under 35 FPS in Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour. It's simple - in demanding 3D games, shader effects are automatically cut off, and the graphics accelerator calmly prevents the frame rate from dropping to the level of 20 units. How bad does the graphics look in this case? Yes, not really, a high PPI “pulls” a picture, on the same Highscreen Omega Q with a larger diagonal (and the same resolution) they no longer look so beautiful.

Alas, the same slightly “hacked” interface as in Highscreen Omega Prime is not here. Android 4.1.2 in its purest form, only with Hangouts, a file manager and dedicated shortcuts to activate the access point and start the equalizer. I especially note only the client of the 4Sync cloud service, for Highscreen Omega Prime Mini 20 GB of space are allocated in a special order instead of the standard 15. Last week on the Vobis website (owner of Highscreen) I noticed that now smartphones come with something like a 64 GB card on 4Sync for one year. Personally, I don’t need such wealth, but if you often exchange “heavy” content, such a “bun” from Highscreen will not hurt.

    Offline work

341 points in AnTutu Tester - to put it mildly, not the most impressive result. In daily work, the smartphone fell short until the evening if the set of tasks was limited to 40 minutes of music, up to 30 minutes of calls and half an hour of 3G web surfing. Plus, periodically, up to half an hour on Wi-Fi, I go online at work. I won’t complain about the autonomy of the Highscreen Omega Prime Mini, since for a couple of months now I have been wearing keys with a “remote control” SmartPower 2600 mAh (A5) for 600 rubles (~ $ 19). A portable miniature battery plus a short cable - no problem. For men, this may not be a solution, but girls carry their smartphones in bags, so nothing prevents the model “at rest” from recharging. And - yes, on “Ali” such a portable outlet costs something like $ 5-6. But I’m at odds with orders from China, that's why I overpay at exorbitant prices for saving nerves and time :)

    Conclusion

4 GB of memory - this may not be enough, a 1,600 mAh battery - there is a reason to run from one outlet to another (which I successfully avoided). Qualcomm MSM8225Q - which means problems with playing Full HD video. I don’t want to bring things like a normal screen, a pretty good camera, high build quality and other things to me, without them it’s difficult to conquer the female audience. Although by and large, the smartphone is bisexual, there are no clumsy flower applications, there is not even a pink cover. But when I look at the Highscreen Omega Prime Mini, I boldly imagine it organically looking in my hands, I will equally recommend the model to my friends. Because I don’t see a single brand with such a “care for the beautiful” with lots of caps in the kit, and these caps themselves are made at a very high level.
