New Nokia World apps
Friday, Habr!
As you remember, last week in Abu Dhabi the Nokia World conference was held , at which we presented a number of new devices, including our first Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet, as well as the “large” Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320 smartphones. In the previous review from the conference, we We’ve already touched on the topic of new applications, and today we want to dwell on this in more detail.

And we will start with ...

We wondered how else to improve our advanced and functional applications for shooting Nokia Pro Camera and Nokia Smart Camera. Paying attention to the opinion of users of Nokia Lumia smartphones, we came to the next logical step, it seems to us - to combine the Pro Camera and Smart Camera functionality in one convenient and customizable shooting application.
Now, Nokia Camera has a new interface with a shooting settings panel that many users of Nokia Pro Camera liked so much. This means that each owner of the new Lumia smartphones with the installed application will have the opportunity to quickly configure parameters such as exposure, focus, shutter speed, ISO and white balance.
And for users who do not want to think about the correct settings in the application, the modes "Auto", "Sports" and "Night" are also provided.

In the case when you want to be 100% sure that you will get a really excellent shot, for example, when shooting group portraits or objects in motion, options inherited from the Nokia Smart Camera application: Smart Burst, Remove Moving Objects or Action Shot will come to the rescue. Recall that the first function allows you to shoot up to 10 frames with one click and choose the one you like most, as well as select the most successfully obtained facial expression for each participant in a group picture. Action Shot allows you to group a series of photos of a moving object into one shot, and Remove Moving Objects to remove extra elements that accidentally fall into the frame with one “tap”.

The Nokia Camera application is now available for download for all Nokia Lumia smartphones with PureView technology (and these are Lumia 920, 925 and 1020 models), as well as preinstalled on the Lumia 1520 phablet and Lumia 2520 tablet. On other models of the Lumia line based on Windows Phone 8 application will appear along with the upcoming update Lumia Black.
Another point that will be more interesting to professional photographers who decide to use a smartphone as one of their working tools: the Nokia Camera application also supports RAW format (DNG). True, this feature will be available for the Lumia 1520, as well as the Lumia 1020 camera phone, but only after the Lumia Black update is released.

Last year, the purchase of Scalado (the developer of the application that endows the usual smartphone with the functionality of the notorious Lytro camera) along with the development team and its technology portfolio could not but affect Nokia itself.
As you probably already guessed, Refocus allows you to take a picture first, and then choose a focus point on the finished, if you can call it that, “semi-finished” photo.

The principle of the application is an algorithm that calculates and creates a map of depth of field in the perspective of the frame. When you press the shutter button, the application takes a series of shots with different depth of field, and then combines them into one common smart shot.
For users, this primarily means the ability to create various variations of a single shot, changing the same scene dozens of times by changing the focus on that part of the frame that needs attention. If desired, a special application algorithm also makes it possible to sharpen all parts of the picture or add a color fill to the selected area to draw attention to it even more.

You can already test the capabilities of the application on a special promotional website of the application.
The Nokia Refocus application allows you to save the results as 5 megapixel images, as well as an interactive image with the ability to change focus for Facebook.
It is noteworthy that this app was created not only for Windows Phone 8, but also for Windows 8.1: the application will appear on the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet and the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320 “phablets”, and also later this year it will be available for other Lumia smartphones with PureView technology.

Continuing the tradition of Nokia Photo Beamer, the ingenious simplicity of the Nokia Beamer application allows you to share the screen of your Nokia Lumia smartphone in real time in just a few steps, sending it to the screen of almost any device connected to the Internet.

To "share" the screen of a Lumia smartphone, it is enough to launch any browser with HTML5 support on the "presentation" screen and open the special site beam.nokia.com on it . The site will display a unique QR code, which must be scanned using the running application, after which a screen translation will appear instead of the QR code.
How this application works can be seen in this video:
In addition, application users can send a unique broadcast link to other people if the presentation is held on a remote screen.
In any of these options it will be possible to choose one of the broadcast modes: continuous or manual. In constant mode, on a connected screen will display all the actions and all the applications that you will open on your smartphone. Manual mode is designed for those cases when users do not want to show the contents of their smartphone, for example, at corporate events. You can activate the broadcast in manual mode by simply “shaking” the phone from any running application.

Another Nokia World debut was the Nokia Storyteller app - a different look at the photo gallery on a smartphone or tablet. Using HERE geolocation information, this application has icons of photos and videos on the world map to create a kind of "travel in pictures."

Application developers have optimized their work with content and a map service, so all photos, videos, and even pictures with the ability to change focus are displayed without a hitch.
