The Silk Road story hits the big screen

Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox announced that writer Dennis Lehane (Dennis Lehane) on the basis of the article the journalist Joshua Davis (Joshua Davis) , which will soon be published on the website of Epic Magazine , will write the script for a feature film. The film will tell the viewer the story of the recently closed FBI website Silk Road , hosted on the anonymous Tor network , and its owner Ross William Ulbricht.

Dennis Lehane is considered one of those American writers who have a close and productive relationship with Hollywood - films based on his books Farewell, Baby, Farewell, Mysterious River and Island of the Damned deserved high marks from film critics. Lihane also worked for television on scripts for episodes of the Underground Empire series.

There are still few details about the project, but, according to preliminary data, the film will primarily focus not so much on the history of Silk Road itself , but on how its owner tried to hire hired killers for site customers who threatened to expose him. The speed with which filmmakers announced a project based on real events is amazing: the detention of Ulbricht and the closure of Silk Road took place just a couple of weeks ago.

The Epic Magazine website was founded by reporters Joshua Davis and Joshuah Bearman to publish articles based on real stories that, in the opinion of the site’s administration, have every chance of getting a decent adaptation. It was Berman’s article that became the primary source for the script for the film Operation Argo, which received the Oscar in the Best Film nomination for 2013.

It is likely that if the film still comes out in wide circulation and sufficiently adheres to real facts, then it can cause widespread public interest in the topic of anonymous networks like Tor .

At the time of this writing, Davis's article on Epic Magazine has not yet been posted.
