ROI website could not withstand the effect of Navalny

The site of the Russian Public Initiative has again been severely tested for high loads. After publishing in LJ Navalny post about his second initiative, the news of which also appeared in the media (in particular on Lenta.ru), the ROI website could last about an hour. After which I began to give errors 500, an error stating that I could not find the config file and connect to the database. As a result, they added an inscription in emergency mode saying that the voices would be updated with a long delay, and at first it was simply written in black text, then ennobled CSS.

They also removed the number of votes for and against in the initiative itself, although I personally do not understand this, because the page is cached anyway, what prevents updating the number of votes simultaneously with the percentage of voters?

Initial page before and after the Bulk effect:

After another hour, the ROI seemed to come to its senses (perhaps due to the fact that the working day ended) and the results began to be updated every 5 minutes. As usual I screwed up the monitoring of voting , where it will be possible to observe the dynamics of voting.

PS Since there are representatives of the ROI on Habré, it would be interesting to see a report later on what the influx of people was and on eliminating the consequences.

UPD At my request, I add links to the post that caused the avalanche on the ROI:
    navalny.livejournal.com/868564.html
    lenta.ru/news/2013/10/14/visa

UPD 2. It looks like the Habraeffect has finished the ROI website and a stupidly 500 error is issued, although I and specifically did not give direct links to the ROI, but this did not help much. So that people take it easy there.
