ZTE Open Firefox OS will soon be sold on eBay for $ 80

Today, Mozilla and ZTE made a joint statement about the imminent release of a new smartphone with Firefox OS. The announcement stated that the ZTE Open smartphone "will soon" be on sale. Unfortunately, it is impossible to clarify the exact release date of the phone, the company did not inform it. But it is known that the device will be sold already unlocked, without reference to the operators. In addition, customers will be able to purchase only a phone with an orange case, there are no other alternatives yet.

The price, as mentioned in the title, will be only $ 80, both for American buyers and for Europeans (in any case, for the British, the price will be the same $ 80). The functionality of the device will be standard, and you should not expect something fundamentally new. Messages, e-mail, calls, the ability to install new applications - that’s all.

ZTE Open is controlled by Qualcomm MSM7225A processor (1 GHz). The equipment of the device also includes 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of internal memory, a 3.5-inch touch screen with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 1200 mAh.

According to the developers, ZTE Open is designed for those users who purchase a smartphone for the first time. Now companies are working on a marketing strategy, which, ideally, will convince a fairly large number of customers that they need a smartphone. Of course, the availability of the phone on eBay opens the way for the device to countries where ZTE Open will not be officially delivered.

By the way, in Russia MegaFon and VimpelCom will supply ZTE phones. An official contract has been concluded with these companies.
