2nd generation Nexus 7 review (2013)

Hello, users of Habrahabr. A few days ago I received the 2nd generation Nexus 7 for testing. I came across a 16 GB model without LTE.
From the first minutes of use, it became clear that the updated "seven" is a contender for the title of the best 7-inch tablet on Android.
Specifications Nexus 7 2-gen
- Android 4.3
- Processor: Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5 GHz (4 cores)
- RAM: 2 GB DDR3
- Internal memory: 16 GB or 32 GB
- Screen: 7 ', 1920 by 1200 pixels, LCD

- 2 MP front camera
- Battery capacity: 3950 mAh
- Dimensions (LxWxD): 114 x 200 x 8.65 mm

Nexus 7 2nd generation - this is a well-made "work on bugs". Nexus 7 II turned out exactly what the first experience from Asus and Google should have been.
The first is the screen. Full HD resolution is no longer magic for anyone, but hell, how nice it is to look at such a screen! Secondly, a tablet even with such a resolution works flawlessly.
In the picture below, the screen comparison of the iPad mini and Nexus 7

Thirdly, the tactile Nexus 7 is very pleasant. He lies in his hand much more convenient than his predecessor, and his "dinner" allows you to use it as a huge phone. (In the video, I already said that if the Nexus 7 were made by Samsung, it would be a phone, but what?).

Another distinctive feature of the novelty is the appearance of the camera on the back. The quality of the camera is controversial.

You can compare the photos I took on the iPad mini and on the Nexus 7 under the same conditions:
1. Nexus 7 | iPad mini
2.Nexus 7 | iPad mini
3. Nexus 7 | iPad mini
4. Nexus 7 | iPad mini
Now this device is really coveted and can be called a winner in the price-quality category in the segment of 7-inch tablets.

And many will now think about what to buy? Old Nexus 7, the price of which in Russia is already melting before our eyes, or is it a new one, the price of which is now rising in our country over 14,000 rubles? I will be glad to buy Nexus 7 (2013) outside our country, because the prices are too human:
Nexus 7 16 GB Wi-Fi - $ 229
Nexus 7 32 GB Wi-Fi - $ 269
Nexus 7 32 GB Wi-Fi + LTE - $ 349

In order to understand what you want, you need to look at the distinctive features of the 2013 Nexus 7 from the 2012 model:
- The tablet has already become 6 mm
- The tablet has become 50 grams lighter
- An indicator light has appeared
- Snapdragon S4 processor Pro (was Tegra 3)
- 2 GB of RAM (was 1 GB)
- A rear camera appeared at 5 MP
- Full HD screen resolution (was HD)
- The position of the front camera changed
- Support for 4G networks appeared in the top version of the device (I don’t know, Are the Russian network)
- Support of Qi - wireless charging
- Support SlimPort - connecting external on the screen with a cable
Should I take?

But, strangely enough, many people look not only at the Nexus 7, but also at the iPad mini and choose mainly between them. I am the owner of the iPad mini and I will not change the tablet from Apple to Nexus for two reasons. Firstly, if on phones I like Android (I have Nexus 4), then the level on the tablet is not the same, there are not enough gestures. Secondly, the aspect ratio offered by Google and Asus does not suit me, 4: 3 is perfect. But I dare to assure fans of Android tablets - this is the best offer on the market: 2013 Nexus 7 is very pleasant to the touch, it works very quickly, it has a great screen and most importantly - the most operational software support.
