Hyundai T7 Tablet - 4 Samsung Exynos Cores + Built-in GPS

We are all accustomed to using Allwinner, Rockchip, Amlogic, and occasionally Mediatek chips in Chinese tablets. And if there are tablets with a Samsung Exynos chip, then they are quite expensive.
Hyundai tried to correct this injustice, and in its new T7 model installed a Samsung Exynos chip, and also a GPS module as a bonus. And all this at a price close to $ 150.
It should be noted right away that the Hyundai automaker is not related to the production of this tablet. Hyundai tablets are manufactured by Hyundai Digital , a company based in China.
Specifications

Options and appearance
A beautiful small box with the inscription “Hyundai Mobile Internet Device”, Exynos 4 icon and the name of the model “T7” in the lower right corner:

For a long time already familiar 2-level system: on top of the tablet, on the bottom - compartment with accessories The

set of accessories is standard:
- headphones
- USB cable
- charger with adapter

An OTG cable instead of headphones would be much more useful.
The charger is not branded, but manufactured by Shenzhen A-Win Technology 5V / 3A:

Beautiful instructions in 2 languages: Chinese and English

This time, the instructions did not forget to indicate the full specifications:

The tablet is made in white and looks more like a phablet (from phablet - phone + tablet) than a tablet:

The back panel is glossy:

White color perfectly conceals traces of prints.
From the interfaces there are:
- charger input
- miniHDMI
- microSD card slot
- 3.5mm headphone input
- microUSB
- microphone

The tablet does not charge via USB. Therefore, a universal USB cigarette lighter adapter is not suitable for charging in a car.
Volume buttons and power button: The

buttons have a clear stroke and are easy to find.
Physical Home button and charging LED:

I haven’t seen the physical buttons on the front of the tablet for a long time. It seems a little strange at first, but you get used to it over time. When pressed, the button emits such a pleasant
Front 0.3MP camera:

Rear 2MP camera:

The tablet is lightweight and convenient to hold in one hand both in an upright position:

And in a horizontal position :

Screen
The 7-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels does not surprise anyone in Chinese tablets. But it was this screen that seemed to me one of the best in quality. Even illumination and excellent color reproduction. Is that the level of maximum brightness I would like to have a little higher.

Viewing angles are as usual good for the IPS matrix: The

screen supports multi-touch for 5 simultaneous touches. This is enough for typing, and for games.

The touch screen works fine, the lines are obtained without jumps and tears: The

screen leaves only a positive impression.
Sound

Although the speaker seems small, the sound coming from it is very loud! For use as a navigator - this is a definite plus.
Wifi
The signal reception level is very pleasing. At 2 meters from the router, the signal is 100% (on the left), through one wall the level decreases slightly (on the right)

But even through 3 walls Wifi still has a stable reception.
Performance
The already well-known Samsung Exynos 4412 chip is installed in the Hyundai T7. 4 Cortex-A9 cores operate at a frequency of up to 1.4 GHz. As the GPU uses Mali 400MP.
The amount of RAM is 1 GB, the constant is 8 GB.
Let's look at the benchmark results:
Antutu:

Almost 14,000 points are slightly ahead of Nexus 7. But it seems to me that the potential of the chip in the current firmware is not fully disclosed, and in the upgrade to Android 4.2.2 we will already see other, higher results.
Also, for overclockers, using the CPU Master utility, the processor frequency from 1.4 GHz can be raised to 1.6 GHz.
Quadrant:

Linpack:

Nenamark2 55.9 fps - Mali 400MP does a great job with graphics processing:

Software
Pre-installed "bare" Android 4.0.4.

Beta is already updating to version Android 4.2.2. The release date is set for April.
A few screenshots from Andoird 4.2.2 can be viewed on the pconline resource .
Games
The 4 core Samsung Exynos chip and the mega-popular Mali 400MP GPU run both arcade games and 3D without any problems.
Cut the roupe, Temple Run 2

Real Racing:

Epic Citadel benchmark game on Unreal Engine 3:

Surfing
Viewing pages on a high PPI screen is very comfortable. Downloading, scrolling, zooming - all these operations are performed quickly and surfing brings only pleasure.

Video
Supported hardware decoding of video in 720p and Full HD:

Viewing a FULL HD video on a small screen is a dubious task, but connecting a tablet to a TV using an HDMI cable can be a lot of fun.
GPS
GPS didn’t work out so smoothly. The cold start time is about 5-7 minutes. The signal reception level of satellites is at an average level.
On the left is on the street, on the right is on the windowsill.

With further movement, the satellites are not lost, so you can safely use the T7 as a car navigator.
Working hours
The T7 has a 3300mAh battery. This is certainly not enough if you plan to constantly load the processor to full with heavy games.
With a constant game of Real Racing 3 for 1.5 hours, the charge level decreased from 100% to 45%.

Over the next 2 hours of watching the video, the charge level dropped to 0% and the tablet turned off:

Total 3 hours 25 minutes at high load.
Solving the issue with 3G
There are several ways to organize 3G on a tablet. For example, by connecting a 3G modem via an OTG cable:

Either configure Wifi-hotspot on your smartphone:

And as another option, Bluetooth tethering.
conclusions
pros
+ excellent performance
+ high-quality IPS screen
+ built-in GPS module
Minuses
-short battery life
Total for just over $ 150 we get a 7-inch tablet with an excellent screen, a 4-core Samsung Exynos 4412 chip and an integrated GPS module. The tablet is great for working both as a “sofa” device, and as a car navigator.
Just a few days before I received the T7, Hyundai began shipping an updated version of the tablet - Hyundai T7s .
Differences from T7 are as follows: - the
tablet is made in dark blue
- the RAM size is doubled and now amounts to 2 Gigabytes - the
volume of permanent memory is 16 Gigabytes - the
resolution of the rear camera is 5MP
The price difference is about $ 20.
