Problems in the Bitcoin network - the emergence of two competing blockchains

Last night, dev-team member Peter Willy (Pieter Wuille) identified a problem with the Bitcoin client version 0.7, which he immediately reported to the community (discussion here ). Further investigation of the problem revealed two chains of blocks generated by clients of versions 0.7 and 0.8, respectively. Most likely, a rollback will be made to the chain generated by version 0.7.

In this situation, miners are encouraged to return to version 0.7. If you are a merchant and use client version 0.8, it is recommended that you suspend the receipt of transactions until a rollback is made to a single chain of blocks.

Mt.Gox has already suspended all deposits until the problem is resolved. Behind him pulled domesticand foreign market leaders.

UPD: The panic seems to be canceling. Messages began to arrive that the problem was solved and soon everything would return to normal.
