Is national security private?

“We must continue to act systematically and offensively. Including in such areas as counterintelligence, protection of strategic infrastructure, the fight against crimes in the economic sphere and in cyberspace. ”

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia (Moscow, December 28, 2012)

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin issued a decree on the need to create a state system to combat cyber terrorism. By his decision, he, in fact, officially announced Russia's entry into the electronic era and joining the club of technologically leading states that had to fight invisible and practically invulnerable enemies over the past few years.

For cyberterrorists there are no state borders; they easily penetrate any objects in any countries where there is a connection to the global Internet information network. The actions of hackers pose a threat not only to ordinary users, but also to the security of the most developed countries.

And Russia is no exception. In our country, the sites of leading media outlets, information systems of government organizations, political figures, businessmen, and personal information of famous actors have already been repeatedly subjected to hacker attacks.

Before virtual weapons, computer viruses, and a variety of spyware, not only the media and VIPs are helpless, but also any weapons arsenals: nuclear missiles, airplanes, artillery and tanks.

Moreover, the most modern models of military equipment can be destroyed, for example, by false commands embedded by hackers into electronic control panels, or into chips responsible for controlling formidable weapons.
They are trying to find salvation from electronic threats in the USA, Israel, and Western Europe, where cyber threat warning centers have already been created.

However, the war between states and hackers is with varying success. They have so far failed to create an effective comprehensive electronic defense against cyber-terrorists. This fact is evidenced by regular media reports about numerous hacks of computer systems of the largest Western television channels, newspapers, information portals, financial institutions, military and defense departments.

In the light of these events, it may seem that the prospects of the Russian national center for electronic security do not look very convincing. After all, it is no secret to anyone that the Achilles' heel of modern Russia is a lag in the field of high technology and the production of electronic devices.

It will take more than one year to fill this gap. Experts know that the creation of information security systems is directly related to the electronic filling used in the equipment. In chips that cannot be manufactured in our country and which are purchased abroad, manufacturers often embed software “bookmarks”. They work if not for hackers, then in the interests of the states in which they are created.

But, strangely enough, even in this seemingly hopeless situation, Russia has every chance not only to successfully cope with the challenge of time, but also to become a world leader in the field of creating information security systems.
For example, the experience of Americans in the space industry, which is strategically important for the state, indicates that cooperation with private companies can lead to fast, efficient and economical solutions to problems of any complexity. Until the continuation of the strategically important national space program.

By the way, this example is also relevant because it resembles the topic I touched on. For certain reasons, not being able to continue the national manned program with its own resources, NASA was forced to rent Russian space technology and thereby support Russian industry. Only by allowing the launch of private spaceships owned by American companies did they successfully solve their current tactical tasks, concentrating on important strategic goals, such as preparing a human flight for other planets.

A similar situation is possible today in Russia in the field of ensuring information security. For example, the Ancort company’s developments in the field of cryptographic protection of information on mobile phones far outstripped the similar equipment available in the USA and Europe. Moreover, they exist not on paper, but in the form of existing product samples. Last year, Ancort introduced a mobile phone information security information system at the world's largest exhibitions of computer equipment and weapons. According to leading experts, it surpasses all existing developments today. In the West, she has already been dubbed the “killer of hackers” and they are eager to buy it in many countries of the world. The only question is, will a unique Russian development be in demand in Russia?

At the beginning of the 2000s, Ancort was a pioneer in the cooperation of domestic private enterprises with major government agencies. In the midst of an unprecedented scam with “false memos”, which has become the largest and most successful hacker attack on state banking systems in world history, our development of those years in the shortest possible time protected the financial security of the Central Bank of Russia.

This year marks 20 years since our system continues to function successfully. For two decades of operating the Ancort cryptosystems in the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, criminals have never been able to crack them! For 20 years, the CBR has been using a private cryptographic algorithm to protect financial payments, developed by Ancort.

At one time, the Royal Technological University of Sweden (which, by the way, determines the candidates for the Nobel Prize) analyzed the cryptographic algorithm of our company and recognized that it cannot be decrypted during the life of the Universe using the highest-speed computers in the world.

We do not hesitate to talk about it, because we know about the superiority of Russian developments in the field of information protection over the world empire of hackers. And we want all Russians to know this too and have the opportunity to effectively counter the threat emanating from the virtual world.

The information security of a country cannot be considered only a state or only a private priority. It affects the interests of ordinary citizens, businessmen, and government employees.

Each of us is equally responsible for the Freedom and future of our country.
