Nokia told its investors that in the 4th quarter of 2012 the company’s business related to devices and services showed better performance than expected, in particular due to the fact that 4.4 million Lumia phones were sold during this quarter, writes The Verge . This is one and a half million more than last quarter, and the best result for all quarters after the launch of the phone.

Since the fall of 2011, a total of 14.3 million Lumia phones have been sold. In addition to Lumia, the company sold 9.3 million Asha phones and only 2.2 million Symbian devices in the 4th quarter. The preliminary financial report of the Finnish company also shows that its device and service department has achieved “basic profitability”, contrary to the gloomy prospects that Nokia itself drew for itself for the 4th quarter.
