Recently, a thin and light 14 "laptop from ASUS has appeared on sale. In addition to its dimensions, its peculiarity is that the price for the basic package is $ 350. The laptop is well suited for those whose work is associated with a frequent change of workplace, despite their size, the laptop battery lasts 4 hours in operating mode. The laptop is offered in several trim levels, and four body colors: dark blue, white, green and pink. In my hands was a green 14 "ASUS X401A-WX306D minimal configuration. More powerful are also available.
The laptop case is made of high quality plastic.
Stickers from the internal panel are recommended to be removed, or glued to the bottom of the laptop (as here), as if you don’t do it right away, then there will be traces. At the bottom of the laptop there are no removable panels for quick access to the inside of the laptop or for cleaning it.
The island type keyboard, without numpad, with a convenient arrangement of all buttons, without highlighting, pressing soft, Ctrl is located to the left of Fn.
The touchpad is large, holistic, the buttons are not separated, which is why there is a slight backlash. You can control gestures with installed drivers.
Left side: Kensington lock, power, USB 2.0.
Right: VGA-output, SD-card reader, LAN, HDMI, USB 3.0, 3.5 mini-jack.
Windows 8 score:
Powerful games certainly won't work, but Counter Strike Source goes without a problem.
The laptop is well suited for work, web surfing, study and simple games. The assembly of the laptop is good, the material is not bad, the keyboard is comfortable, the touchpad is large, but due to the small size, sometimes the hand touches it when printing, but it can be turned off when typing. Windows 8 is loaded in 9s, out of sleep mode it goes beyond 3. Due to IceCool technology, the laptop does not heat up on the keyboard side and does not warm the hand. Using and working is not convenient, the price does not bite.
PS Included with the laptop without an optical drive was a driver disk.
