The mobile application rewards users for not using the phone while watching a movie

Now there are so few places where cellular communication is not available and there is no Internet. Aircraft and metro stations have been such places until recently, but even now there are networks.

Theoretically, cinemas should be a place where you can’t take pictures, surf the Internet and click loudly on the keyboard. Until cinemas start building materials that do not allow radio signals, mobile devices will remain a constant problem. But one movie theater came up with a way to get rid of this problem.

Cinemark, a network of American cinemas, has released the CineMode mobile app for Android and iOS, which allows moviegoers to be rewarded for not using their phones during sessions.

    How it works

When the movie starts, you start the application and click the “ Turn CineMode On ” button . Your screen will darken and you will be prompted to set the volume to vibration.

If you stay in CineMode mode throughout the movie, then you will receive rewards, for example, a free cola when you buy popcorn.

“It's very important to create an atmosphere for watching films,” says Marketing Director James Meredith.

Meredith emphasized that the owners of the network asked to develop a "graceful and creative" solution so that visitors would no longer be distracted by calls and sms.
Undoubtedly, this is a very elegant solution, but its effectiveness will still need to be checked whether the application can stop people from using mobile phones during sessions. There remains one more question, what to do with people who do not use the phone during the sessions, but simply will turn on the CineMode mode to receive free bonuses.
