The new Switchvox 450 & 470, API and more ...

It's no secret that today Asterisk is not only a free “engine” for building your own automatic telephone exchange. This is the basis for a dozen commercial solutions.

There are many products, fewer quality ones, and the best solution is one at all.

As you might guess, we are talking about a unified communications system - Switchvox . The most popular commercial solution on Asterisk, which was recognized the best in 2012 according to the rating agency Frost & Sullivan , InternetTelephony magazine and many others ...

I recall that Digium supplies three boxed options: for small businesses Switchvox AA65, for medium AA305 and AA355.

The SMB version of the product provides a multi-level IVR, an operator panel for convenient management of Switchboard calls, API integration with external systems and much more.

Servers allow you to expand the system up to 400 users, and make up to 75 simultaneous calls. Of course, this is not the limit for Asterisk, and the company decided to fix this “flaw”.

And today Digium presents a solution for larger companies: Switchvox AA450 & AA470

New equipment supports migration from previous 355 and 305 models. Servers are lighter and thinner, consume less power.

And also, if we talk about other dynamic resources, the following plate is interesting:

    Digium Phones API

Even before the announcement of new iron components, Digium updated the software itself. Switchvox SMB is now version 5.7 which adds support for the latest IE, browsers for Linux, as well as updated firmware for D-series phones. Now it has the number 1.3 and allows you to use your own applications on the desktop IP device.

The Digium phone API allows you to run your own JavaScript application . I think no web developer should have a problem with this.

Why do we need our own applications on a landline phone?

    Write Hello World? :)

Get information from external servers, for example, about the weather or twitter feed?

But the real value will be when you integrate the IP phone with your website, or CRM system. Standard Caller-ID is boring. When you receive a call, we need to know more about the client! Order status, communication history, contacts, etc. more ...

    Russification Switchvox

Switchvox is fully in Russian. A little earlier, only the user side of the web interface was translated:

Now the management by the administrator is accompanied by the Cyrillic alphabet.

It should be noted that, unfortunately, this localization is temporarily not approved by the developer. But I think this is a temporary phenomenon.

    Prices

And yes, in conclusion it’s worth mentioning the prices. Recommended retail prices are $ 9,850 and $ 12,975 for servers 450 and 470, respectively. Plus subscriptions (licenses) for users: $ 50 each. ~ The final price is about $ 30 thousand for the whole system. Many?

It is worth noting that this calculation for a company with 500+ employees is not just for a new PBX, but for a really worthwhile unified communications system.
