Skype will show ads during audio calls

Skype has been experimenting with advertising in its client for more than a year , and today the company announced the launch of an advertisement that will be shown during audio calls, SlashGear reports .

Advertising will endure for everyone who will call Skype-contacts without Skype-credits or any subscriptions - in other words, those who use the service for free. At the same time, the company claims that advertising will contribute to the development of conversations during a call (I wonder if expression of indignation over this advertisement is possible?)

Advertising, it seems, is not yet massively launched. Now it will be shown only to Windows users. Skype describes the innovation as follows: “During an one-on-one audio call, users will see content that can inspire additional conversation topics that are interesting to Skype users and emphasize unique and local brands. Therefore, you should think of advertising during communication as a way for Skype to create a fun interaction between your circle of friends and family and brands that interest you. ”

When displaying ads, the geographic location of the user, as well as his age and gender, will be taken into account. If age and gender can be disabled, then advertising itself will not be able to get rid of. It’s good that it will be silent and should not interrupt the conversation in any way.

UPD: Microsoft has published for advertisers statistics about the user base to which ads will be shown. So, there are 41 million such users, their average conversation length is 13 minutes.
