Border control of biometric passports
At the Sheremetyevo airport, they will test the automatic passport control system at the border recently developed by Russian specialists.
As the deputy head of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia, Colonel-General Nikolai Rybalkin, said: “One of the features of the“ biometric ”passports being actively introduced now is“ the availability of high-resolution color photographs on electronic media that allows automatic verification of the document holder ”.
This system in the future will work not only with information from the owner database
biometric passport, but also automatically compare the person’s appearance with his photograph. Earlier, the EU spoke about the need to introduce this system, which was determined to establish control at all its borders. To date, it has already been tested at London Heathrow Airport, Amsterdam Schiphol, in Finland and Madrid.
Electronic passports with an electronic chip / biometric passports will now be everywhere and, most importantly, quickly scanned by border controls for their authenticity and identity.
The current system, upon such verification, verifies the data with a list of wanted persons and those who are denied entry to another country or leaving their homeland. All scanned data is entered into the database, where all your country’s border crossings are kept in your personal card.
The innovation promises to become popular and make control more effective, thanks to additional scanning of the appearance and correlation of it with the photograph in the passport.
