Apple rejects any apps using Dropbox

A curious problem is being discussed by developers on the Dropbox forum.

Apple rejected the Cambox mobile app for the App Store on the grounds that if Dropbox is not installed on the user's device, then the authorization for the service in the new Dropbox SDK is via the web. At the same time, the browser opens the authorization form, and on the same Dropbox page there is a link to the “desktop version”, and if you click on the link to the desktop version, the user will see a link to purchase additional space in Dropbox.

Apple considers such a situation as “forcing the user to make an additional purchase”, which is prohibited by the rules for applications on the App Store.

Cambox developers are asking colleagues from Dropbox to remove the link to the desktop version, otherwise their application - and any other programs using Dropbox - will never censor the App Store.

Developers of other programs who encountered the same problem in the App Store also spoke at the Dropbox forum.
