Cloud Contest 2 Report

On March 31, in Samara, we hosted Cloud Contest 2 - an individual offline programming competition for talented students. Our contest is distinguished from ordinary olympiads by the competitive component. Participants wrote bots that fought each other. The winner was determined by the results of the battle between the robots. In order to participate, you do not need to be a member of the olympiad team or have rich experience in olympiad programming. It is enough to register on the site and cope with the test task.

Under the cut - a detailed description of the assignment, video and photos.

For several weeks, we posted the following poster in Samara universities:

    Correspondence part

The competition consisted of two stages: correspondence test and full-time main. In the correspondence phase, participants wrote a bot in any programming language that the labyrinth was supposed to go through. This helped them get acquainted with the API and prepare for a more complex full-time part.

    Full-time

All participants who successfully completed the test task were invited to participate in the main competition on March 31 at 13:00 in the Tinkoff restaurant. The assignment of the full-time part is more difficult than the test one: under your control, a team of 6 bots on a 30 to 30 square field. Each of the three opponents also has 6 bots that can shoot yours. You fight with other participants, not against the computer. In a live contest the passions were serious :-).

Closer to the competition, the spectacle was supplemented with bread - beer and snacks appeared. So Samara figures of television art saw and described the event. And here we are:

    What's next?

In December, we hosted the first Cloud Contest. Its members also fought among themselves, but in collecting bonuses in the maze. In autumn, we plan to expand the geography of the competition and invite participants from neighboring cities. Naturally, they will be paid for the road and accommodation. The correspondence part of the competition will be more difficult, it will be overcome by the best of the best. And the most successful of them will get prizes that will become even more attractive.

We are interested in your ideas, questions and suggestions.
