3D in the product description
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,
To write this topic in "I PR" is somewhat incorrect, because We are not looking for customers, but partners. Therefore, I chose the "Web Development" and "IT Infrastructure" hubs. If the decision is not correct, please inform in PM.
I want to introduce you to one of the projects that should contribute to the penetration of 3D in Online. The idea is not new and it has been tried many times to implement, so far, as I understand it, it has not been successful, because everywhere it is never used. The point is that in addition to product photos in the store, you can add a 3D model. Quite often, such a model carries more information than a huge set of photos. This happens for the simple reason that the model is perceived as a whole, but the photographs also need to be combined, which is not given to everyone.
The model can be inserted anywhere (almost). For example, you bought your son a cool Lego robot, posted pictures from your birthday in Odnoklassniki, naturally, there is a gift there too. But you can add a 3D model to photos (look, what a cool gift!), Especially since it costs nothing and is done quickly. After a couple of months, the son got tired of the robot, it's a pity to throw it away, because he is in good condition and not cheap. An agreement is made with his son: the robot is sold, ice cream is not bought for three weeks (or maybe you need 5 in mathematics?), Money from the sale + the above bonus and a new toy is bought. No sooner said than done. An old robot is being auctioned. A 3D model is added to the description with photos. It will look like this (real lot on E-Bay). The model is free, customers are satisfied.
So why did we invent the bicycle again? Well, because I like the idea itself and I can’t get used to the idea that nobody needs it. I analyzed foreign implementations and selected key points that, in my opinion, prevent this idea from gaining a worthy place in the market.
1. Difficult. Many implementations provide for the purchase of a certain number of files that need to be uploaded to your server and you need to insert some code in the right place. The most unpleasant thing here is the upload to the server. To do this, you need someone who understands this all. Those. an ordinary manager will not be able to do this. Plus, it’s also the load on the server (the content is heavy). Plus, you need to make sure that this all works (access rights, etc.). Or maybe it is also necessary to change something in the data bank? No, that’s not so. Our thought is simpler. Come to us, choose a product, get a link (right there, without leaving the cash desk), insert the link in the place you need as a regular photo. It's all. This method is perfect for electronic auctions and social networks. And what about those who have a whole store? Every time to climb to our site? Well no, this is insanity. You insert a link to our script and one div where our button appears in the template of your system. Now, in addition to the “insert photo” button, you also have the “insert 3D model” button. And what happens if some product is no longer sold? Is it out of date, for example, is there a new model, or has it not “gone” at all? It would be good to delete the model files. In the option of storing files at home, you will have to somehow solve this problem. With us, you only need to go to your account and click on exactly one button. From now on, your link is inactive. did you get a new model or didn’t it go at all? It would be good to delete the model files. 2. Price. In most implementations of this idea, a “money-in-evening-in-the-morning money” scheme is assumed. On human terms, this means pay 15-20 €, download the archive, do whatever you want with it. And if it turned out that no one was watching this model? Or do you have exactly three copies of the goods and will no longer be? I want to have a model, but I’m not buying it especially. Who knows, maybe all 3 will be sold in 3 days? Yes, these 15-20 € seem like not much, but the toad ... We made it easier. For the current link is the daily fee. How many times the model has been shown is absolutely not important. If you see that you do not need a model, go to your account and turn it off. In your system, you delete the link (like a regular photo). It's all. The price is chosen so that if using the model you sold at least one copy more than without it, then you have not lost.
3. Upgrade. A new version of the twist appeared, for example, some feature was added (you can dynamically change the color of the product) or the bug was fixed. What will you do if the files are with you? Then there is a lot of people, there are several options, from good to very bad. We have no options at all. The upgrade will happen unnoticed for you, just like in chrome (all the files are ours :)).
Naturally, our implementation has its drawbacks and we do not argue with this. But wehope that the pros outweigh the cons.
Our attempts to promote this service showed the following:
It's a vicious circle. Attempts to break out of it on our own brought us a lot of experience but no practical effect. We need, so to speak, a shoulder of support. We are ready to "sell out" to those who would use this service at home / partners / customers. This would be enough for us to return to our previous potential customers and finally be able to say: We are reliable partners and our customers can confirm this!
Well, in the end, a link to the service itself (and an example API).
Ideas, wishes, constructive criticism are welcome.
PS naturally the question arises, but wheredid the firewood come frommodels? We want to make most of the models ourselves (at the beginning), but in general we expect that there will be a sufficiently large number of people who will make models, fill them with us and get their rightful share from it.
UPD:
as can be seen from the comments, I probably did not correctly describe the problem.
The problem is not related to the product, customers like the product, there are no questions about it. There are questions for us: who we are, who is behind us. This is the problem I want to solve.
Example:
You make cars and want to sell them in Germany. The Germans did a crash test and the car was not allowed for sale. You write on the forum: gentlemen, we have a problem with the crash test, we need a person to solve this problem. And in the comments they write to you: man, your car is full of cocoa, because the seats there are not comfortable and in general this car is more suitable for red color.

Our attempts to promote this service showed the following:
- We send a proposal for cooperation
- We are told: very interesting
- We say: well, so let's work!
- They tell us: we have 100,500 products, before we start, we are very interested to know who you are and where it came from?
- We answer: ... (and what can we say?)
- We are told: well, it’s clear that everyone ever started. And who can recommend you?
- Hmm .... (well, of course I can recommend my partner, and he is me, but for some reason it seems to me that this is not quite what is expected)
