Ice Cream Sandwich Open Beta Available for Installation on Sony Ericsson 2011
Good news for developers is already from Sony Mobile : the fourth version of the fourth Android has become available for installation on unlocked Xperia.
In the video above, you can see what Ice Cream Sandwich is like on the example of Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S (let me remind you that Android 4.0 will be available for installation on all 2011 models). In particular, such features as starting the camera and controlling the player directly from the lock screen, an updated email client and speed dialing are already working.
It is important to make a small digression: as I wrote, Significant, if not the main part of the time for preparing a software update is taken up by numerous certifications and checks. Now Sony Mobile’s ICS beta already runs GSM and FM radio, but important features like Google Mobile Services (GMS) - Gmail, Google Maps, Face Unlock, etc., Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are still awaiting certification. therefore, they will not work. So this beta is not for personal use yet.
In general, Sony Mobile continues the course taken by Sony Ericsson a year ago to maximize open relations with the community of developers and as a separate line asked me to convey that this is one of the most important priorities of their work;)
