Intel and Google optimize Android for x86 architecture

At the Intel Developer Forum, Intel and Google announced yesterday that they will jointly optimize future versions of Android OS for smartphones and tablets based on Intel chipsets.
True, there are no such chipsets on the market yet. The IDF showed a tablet based on the Medfield chipset (third-generation Atom processor) running Android 3.0. These devices should go on sale in I quarter. 2012.
Collaboration with Google and optimizing the OS for the x86 architecture will help Intel to enter the market faster and, perhaps, gain a competitive advantage on it over manufacturers of ARM processors that do not have such friendly relations with Google.

On the Android + platform, Medfield plans to make not only tablets, but also smartphones.
