At 18:00 Moscow time, Sony introduced two tablets at once under the unpretentious names Tablet S and Tablet P. We managed to drag the first to the editor and shoot a movie about it in advance, and the second Kim Korshunov talks directly from the company's booth.
When I first saw the Sony Tablet S, I thought: oh, well, at least something unusual! And when he fell into my hands, I generally jumped for joy, because he did not slow down. That is, in general. Not a bit. Not even a hint of lags when turning over desktops. It turns out that at least one device on Android 3 has appeared, which can be compared with the iPad in terms of responsiveness! Hurrah! Viva la Sony =)
In this case, the same “heart” beats inside the tablet as in tablets of other manufacturers - NVIDIA Tegra 2. What prevents them from doing the same? ..
On the right side is the power button, volume controls and the good old “ pin "reset.
On the left is a headphone jack, and under the plug is a micro-USB port and a slot for full-sized SD cards.
The back is glossy, but so that fingerprints do not remain, it is covered with "goosebumps." Bottom - the contact area for connecting to the docking station, and on the sides - a pair of speakers.
Previously, both tablets were known as S1 and S2, but shortly before IFA 2011, Sony decided that they would name the models differently, dividing them into two lines: P and S. Sony Tablet S does not look quite familiar: the thickness of the device is not uniform. In the upper part it is 20.23 mm, and in the lower 7.62 mm. In the hands of the gadget lies perfectly, so the developers did not miss the caliber.
It is clear that Sony has always focused on those people who follow fashion and, not afraid of the word, are not alien to glamor. But here there was a clear search: at the first glance at the gadget, there is only one association: “a hybrid of soap dishes and cosmetics bags”. But perhaps this impression is caused by a very superficial acquaintance with the Sony Tablet P.
But the characteristics are impressive: the Tablet P is running a dual-core Tegra 2 CoS processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz. Operating System - Android 3.2. The diagonal of each of the two displays of the gadget is 5.5 inches; it is made using TruBlack technology, which is already known to us on Sony Bravia TVs, with a resolution of 1024x800 pixels. There are also two cameras: the front (or in this case internal?) With VGA resolution and the main one with a 5-megapixel sensor. There is also a slot for SD-cards, microUSB and 4 gigabytes of internal memory. The battery life will obviously be quite long since The battery in the Sony Tablet P is pretty serious - 3080 mAh!
Sales of new products in Europe will begin very soon. Tablet S will appear on store shelves in September, at a price of 479 euros. The clamshell will have to wait a little longer - until November and fork out already for 599 euros.
And Lenovo finally showed what was already announced in July - the Thinkpad business tablet with its own special features.
Interestingly, the 10.1-inch ThinkPad does not have its own name - it is simply called the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet. To be honest, the gadget is a little upset: on its front surface there is so much gloss that shines strongly in the sun, which is enough for the Galaxy Tab and iPad combined. But the glass here, like the X1 laptop, is not easy - Corning Gorilla, and the display itself is made using IPS technology, resolution 1280x800.
But the back of the tablet is a completely different matter. The touch is the same as the cover of ThinkPad laptops. The camera (which is in the upper right) is five megapixel. Frontal resolution - 2 megapixels.
Despite the serious thickness (14.5 mm), the tablet is very light: the ThinkPad Tablet weighs only 740 grams. Everything is even very good with the connectors: there is not only a SIM card slot, an SD card reader, miniHDMI, microUSB, a docking station connector, but also full USB 2.0.
Inside the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet is Nvidia Tegra 2, a gigabyte of RAM and a 16/32/64 gigabyte SSD. The tablet is running Android 3.1. The battery, they say, lasts for eight hours of battery life.
The tablet is already available for pre-order. The minimum configuration of the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet will cost $ 499, the maximum - at 669. True, we are talking about the United States.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc will be updated soon. There are no visual differences, all changes relate to the filling and functionality. But just in case, we examined it externally.
The difference is number one: a processor with a frequency of 1.4 GHz instead of 1 GHz in the first Arc. According to developers, smartphone performance increased by 25%.
The difference is number two: the ability to shoot three-dimensional panoramas and then watch them on Sony Bravia TVs.
