Windows XP 10 years
Exactly 10 years ago, on August 24, 2001, Windows XP RTM was released. Despite such a long time, this operating system still occupies a large part of the market, has solidly settled on millions of computers, and still withstands competition with Vista and Windows 7.
According to statistics from Net Applications, XP is still used on 49.69% of computers (July 2011 data) but the share of Windows 7 is growing rapidly and has already reached 27.92%.
Support for Windows XP will be discontinued in April 2014, and Microsoft is not planning any additional updates after Service Pack 3.
Happy Birthday, Windows XP!
