Windows 7 tablet from China

It's been a couple of weeks since I own a tablet PC from China. Studying the abundance of Android-based devices, I realized that I needed something qualitatively different. At some point, I began to look for a laptop in the tablet form factor, and as a result of the campaign on Pickegg.com (the Dingoo A320, well-known to the scavengers for its sales ), for $ 375 I purchased a miracle product of Chinese industry with Windows 7 “on board”:

Inside the tablet There is a full-fledged PC platform with Windows 7 Ultimate installed . I suspect that the OS is pirated, although Windows Update is turned on and working by default.

Windows gives the tablet this performance rating:

Full performance characteristics shot with SIW utility can be viewed here .

The tablet came packaged in a particularly durable inflatable container that reliably protects the device, as well as with a protective factory film on the screen. Included with it was a laptop charger, as well as an adapter for connecting a monitor and a wired LAN.

The webcam in it is mediocre, suitable for video communications, but photographing something with the front part is still impossible. When you rotate the screen with a G-sensor, the camera image does not flip.

    Appearance

On the front of the tablet there is a Windows button that opens the Start menu, a light sensor, a camera, as well as 3 luminous icons that display the tablet’s power on / sleep, battery charging and the inclusion of wireless adapters.

At the top there is a power / standby button, a microphone, a useless SIM card slot, a microSD card slot, a G-sensor lock button, combined with the Start menu call button, and a rocker that allows you to adjust the volume of the built-in speakers and brightness manual backlighting.

On the right side there is a connector for connecting a 19 volt power supply, a combined connector for connecting a VGA monitor and a wired network via RJ-45, as well as a USB port.

Below there are only two stickers covering the bolts.

On the left side is a USB port, headphone output, an incomprehensible plug, as well as a switch for wireless adapters.

At the back of the tablet are air vents and a small hole with a reset button inside.

    Using

In fact, inside the tablet is a regular netbook with its pros and cons. In particular, warm air is blown out from one of the upper ventilation openings.

Unlike specially designed touch controls for iOS and Android, Windows initially implied the use of a mouse and keyboard. However, multi-touch support was introduced in Windows 7 and the OS’s control capabilities were incorporated into the OS itself. Working with familiar programs for the most part is comfortable, but there are small elements that are not so easy to get into. I had to abandon the use of Total Commander in favor of a standard file manager, but working with Adobe Lightroom, to my surprise, did not suffer. If necessary, you can always connect a mouse and / or keyboard, including via Bluetooth.

Full-fledged USB ports and the operating system make it possible to connect any familiar devices, camera, external sound card - this was an important criterion of my choice.

The tablet itself is somewhat heavy in comparison with the iPad, it can be uncomfortable to hold it in one hand for a long time - it asks on your knees or stand. The screen is good, bright, the viewing angle from the sides is close to 180 degrees, but above and below it is much smaller. The glossy front surface flaps instantly, while the rear, fortunately, is matte. I find it difficult to determine the case materials without disassembling it. The front part seems to be plastic, the buttons are exactly made of plastic, but the back is similar to an aluminum alloy - it pleases with a pleasant coolness and roughness. The case is quite monolithic, but the twisting test is carried out on a four.

Battery life is about 3-5 hours, depending on the inclusion of Wi-Fi, so it is better to keep the charger closer.

    conclusions

Our Chinese friends managed to create another interesting device. In general, the tablet impressions are positive, it is more compact and much more interactive than a netbook, while maintaining its functionality, and this review is written on it. However, a small amount of “finger-oriented” software sometimes makes you regret the absence of a mouse or keyboard.

It would not be entirely correct to compare it with an iPad or Android tablets, because, despite the general form, inside these are devices of different classes. However, the tablet’s goals are fulfilled and it does it well.

    Good luck
