Rambler-Cards restarted in new quality

Today we present the beta version of the updated Rambler-Cards . This is the first service that is restarted in a new concept and in the new corporate style of Rambler.

The volume of data provided makes Rambler-Cards even in the beta version the most detailed in RuNet. The service provides detailed cartographic information about 2,000 settlements, accurate to streets and houses. No one has such coverage on the market. The basis of the service is cities with a population of more than 100,000 people. For the first time, users will see maps of many of these cities on the Internet. Current traffic information is provided for 86 cities in the European part of Russia - this is also the widest coverage in Runet.

Although the interactive map market is highly competitive, users lack quality map information. So, in RuNet it is not easy to find detailed maps of some large cities or capitals of the Russian republics. Vivid examples are Ulyanovsk, Ulan-Ude or Yoshkar-Ola. Smaller cities with a population of over 100,000 were represented by a dot on the map. Our service solves this problem.

A unique feature of the Rambler-Kart is that they can be used to lay a route both in a particular city and through all of Russia - from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. The total length of roads laid on the Rambler Maps is 2.9 million kilometers.

In settlements, the service allows you to lay car and transport routes. For example, if a user needs to get to their destination by metro, then the service will calculate the approximate travel time for it. The metro map is displayed on top of the city map and the user receives a hint which exit from the metro he should use.

In total, about 120,000 settlements, more than 600,000 organizations and nearly 2 million addresses in Russia are printed on the Rambler-Kart.

The presented product is the first step towards the development of a new concept of cards on the Rambler. This is an infrastructure project that will be integrated into many products of the combined company. Thanks to the Rambler Maps, users all over Russia will be able to choose - how to quickly get to their destination, how to avoid traffic jams, which nearest store to call, which roads to travel between cities and so on. In addition to all the innovations, when the beta version was launched, the technology for processing and displaying cartographic information and traffic jams was updated. This made Rambler-Cards more functional and more convenient for users.

Updating the service and adding new features will occur continuously. In the coming months, a mobile version of the maps and a publicly available API will be presented, which will allow third-party sites to use Rambler Maps on their sites.

Cartographic services on the Rambler have existed since 2000. Then the project "Rambler-On the map" was launched - the first runet cards.
