ICQ and SSL

Interestingly, is it my one after a recent move that ICQ stopped working with SSL? Now, for Pidgin to connect, you must check the Don't use encryption checkbox. At first I thought that this would pass with time, but only time passed, and not this problem.

What is it for? It seems that ICQ was bought by Digital Sky with all the giblets, so, for sure, competent individuals have full access to the correspondence of users. Why, then, so and so substitute juzverej in front of individuals not so competent? Mysteriously ... Or, simply, do they lack the computing power for a centralized analysis of correspondence?
