Mobile Safari in iOS 4.2.1 supports accelerometer and WebSockets
In iOS 4.2.1, Safari introduced support for an accelerometer (gyroscope) and WebSockets.
Maximiliano Firtman posted a video on YouTube demonstrating new features, controlling a ball rolling on a web page using a gyroscope (data on the position of the ball is read 50 times per second).
If you have a device with iOS 4.2.1 try - www.mobilexweb.com/samples/ball.html
Apparently there will be many online games soon, developers of which will not be of special interest in the AppStore.
About WebSockets already wrote in detail here on Habr
