The Pad market has been formed - who will win it in 2010?
The day before the announcement of the RIM BlackBerry PlayBook Pad, another line of notepads was announced - Sharp Galapagos .
Gizmodo immediately compiled a comparative table of characteristics of the four main tablets , which (in their opinion) will play this year of sales: Apple iPad , BlackBerry PlayBook , Samsung Galaxy Tab and HP Slate .
It’s just not clear for what reasons HP Slate got here, because although HP showed it in January 2010, the sale of the product has not yet been announced and it seems that HP cannot decide whether they will bring this product to market or not. And even the HP Slate promo page on the official website has already been practically removed - see: HP Slate Promo .
But at the same time, the Gizmodo edition for some reason forgot to mention three Android tablets in its comparison:
* Dell Streak , which have already begun to be sold and are gaining their fans in the United States.
* ViewSonic ViewPad line , which ViewSonic promises to soon fill up the whole of Europe.
* and the new Sharp Galapagos line .
Still forgotten, perhaps, is the future strong competitor in this market - the HP PalmPad , based on Palm webOS , the announcement of which occurred just a few hours ago (see: “HP announces the PalmPad device” ), although its characteristics can only be judged by rumors. But the Palm webOS platform itself is promising and more suitable for competing with the Apple iOS platform than the Microsoft Windows 7 desktop OS chosen for HP Slate - the interface of which, according to many experts, is not suitable for a small screen with touch-control.
It is obvious that in the last quarter of 2010, various Notepad Pad tablets from the world's largest manufacturers on four main mobile platforms will appear on sale:Apple iOS , Google Android , BlackBerry Tablet OS , Palm webOS - and this means that the Pad market for the market is formed and serious competition begins :)
True, while competitors were just preparing for mass sales, the Apple iPad has already been sold for more than six months and during this time took a decent market share of Pad-tablets, and put together a fairly serious set of native applications.
So, apparently, the winner in 2010 in the notebook market will be Apple with its iPad, which actually began to shape this market.
But already in 2011, real battles will be launched in the market of notepad Pad-tablets (unless something out of the ordinary happens - such as World War III), the winner of which is not so obvious.
But at the same time, you can most likely predict that the manufacturers of Pad-tablets in battles between themselves will still seize some market share from NetBooks, which in turn will continue to actively seize market share from full-fledged NoteBooks.
Well, consumers will surely be the final winners in this struggle - having received cheaper and more convenient mobile computers (if only in the pursuit of lowering the cost of mobile products, manufacturers would not drop the quality of their computers) :)
PS: What do you think about this?
