While other manufacturers are developing dual-core ARM processors, Marvell goes one step further - with a new tri-core processor called Armada 628. This processor is a SoC based on ARM v7 MP series, with two separate 1.5 GHz cores plus a third core - 624 MHz - makes Marvell the first company to bring such power to the market. While two powerful cores are pretty standard, the third core provides ultra-low power consumption. The idea of Marvell is that when high power is not required, the system runs on one low-power core, disabling the other two, saving a lot of energy.
