Sports Tracker Service Overview

Most recently, the new Sports Tracker service has moved from the testing stage to a full-fledged mode of operation. The project will make sports interesting, will allow you to save and analyze the results in order to achieve new heights. Under the cut - a brief overview of the service and the official video.

    A bit of history.

In 2007, Nokia launched a training tracking service - Nokia Sports Tracker Beta. For its time, Nokia Sports Tracker was advanced functionally and even received an award at the World Mobile Congress. It is unlikely that anyone would have thought that the project would die at the Beta stage. Despite the convenience and functionality of the service and mobile application, the development proceeded at a slow pace. The design has never changed and at the end of his life he looked clearly outdated. In 2009, Nokia announced a complete cessation of service development, and on June 30, 2010 the project was closed.

However, the three founders of the service came together, assembled a team and founded Sports Tracking Technologies Ltd. A completely new site was created http://www.sports-tracker.com , a new application for smartphones running Symbian OS. In the near future, it is planned to create a mobile application for the main mobile OS.

    What happened?

Walking through the main menu of the service, I can say with confidence: we received, if not the best, then definitely one of the most interesting services of this kind. The project is incredibly functional and has a nice design for both the site and the mobile application.

By going to your profile you can view the training diary and each workout separately.

The dark colors of the site today look unusual, but everything was done really beautifully. In addition, it is possible to personalize the service for yourself by choosing one of the proposed backgrounds or downloading your own.

    Use of the service.

Unfortunately, at this stage, you cannot import an existing track into the service. To use, you must download the mobile application to your smartphone. A prerequisite is the presence of a GPS receiver in the device. This is logical, because only in this way you can get accurate data about location, speed and altitude. By launching it from the menu, you need to enter your login and password on the service, select the required type of training (there are quite a lot of them, but you can add your own sport) and you can start the training. It is possible to pair the application with a cardiometer to obtain data on the loads on the heart.

After the workout, data about it will be uploaded to the server. Basic track information can be viewed directly from a mobile device, and extensive information can be viewed on the service.

    Conclusions.

You can run and ride without a tracker, this is not a panacea. However, to have data on the work done, to try to achieve more and simply collect the route database is interesting and useful. With a competent approach, a service can become a personal pocket trainer.

Briefly and clearly about the capabilities of Sports Tracker is described in the official video clip:
