Linux IC for Hyper-V v2.1 left Beta
Finally, the integration components of Hyper-V for Linux systems were released. This news will delight those administrators, under whose strict guidance are heterogeneous infrastructures operating in a virtual environment. This release adds the functionality promised in the beta version and makes working with virtual Linux systems even more convenient.
This release will also be remembered for the fact that it is a kind of gift from our “virtual team” on the international day of the system administrator. Our hypervisors have supported enterprise Linux systems since the Virtual Server era, and will continue to support them, constantly improving collaboration.
Of the innovations in version 2.1:
- Drivers for synthetic devices: The integration components have received improved support for the synthetic network adapter and the synthetic disk subsystem.
- Support for Fastpath downloads for Hyper-V : The boot disk uses the Virtualization Service Client (VSC) to speed up loading due to direct interaction with VMBus.
- Time synchronization : Organized clock synchronization of the virtual machine with the clock of the hypervisor.
- Integrated Shutdown : Virtual machines running Linux can be "shut down" correctly using Hyper-V Manager or System Center Virtual Machine Manager.
- Support for symmetric multiprocessing: Supported Linux distributions can use up to 4 virtual processors in one virtual machine ...
- Heartbeat : Allows the hypervisor to monitor the state and activity of the guest Linux system.
- Plug-in time source : Plug-in clock module that allows more correctly synchronize time in a virtual machine.
Traditionally, all functions are guaranteed when using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2-5.6 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from 10 SP3 to 11.
