Report on Krasnodar PhotoCamp

On July 11, 2010 , on Sunday, the first PhotoCamp in Krasnodar took place at the Formula Business Club.

The third Minibar turned out to be narrowly focused, showed many new faces, touched on complex topics of the industry and interested competent speakers. The theme of PhotoCamp in Krasnodar was: Photography on the Web .

The first section was devoted to photo projects on the Internet. The authors and owners of two multidirectional and multidimensional Internet resources talked about the goals of creation, features and prospects of their sites.

    • Artem Chernov introduced photopolygon.com, the largest online site for photojournalism. He showed a slideshow of the exhibition WE, admitted that he severely moderates the authors and their work, avoiding weak photo reports, even with very high-quality text.
    • Dima Zhuravlev spoke about the Krasnodar project - inDisco.ru - the digest of the club life of Krasnodar. The author’s goals are beyond the club industry and narrowly themed photography, the project in the future will also include thematic textual content - materials from professional journalists, user opinions.

In the second section, the lawyer, lawyer of the Krasnodar-plus television company Anna Likhashva cited several fundamental rules of copywriting on the Web. Anna was inundated with questions - in the practice of photographers, there are many situations in which professional legal advice is needed. There can be only one result - you can defend your copyright, but in practice there are no such cases in Krasnodar.

The third section was held in an open discussion format. Moderator Sergey Karpov gave the floor to each expert in different areas of photography:
    • Victor Khmel (photo artist, teacher at the Department of Design, specialization in photo design), presented art photography and, summing up the difficult discussion, said that art photography in Krasnodar raises its level, young and talented authors appear who need to be allowed to exhibit and develop .
    • Roman Blagov (a popular wedding photographer, editor-in-chief of Marrige Magazine) was also optimistic in his area - wedding photography: “The supply level in Krasnodar is a cut above the many regions of Russia,” he emphasized.
    • Mikhail Mordasov believes in photojournalism in the regions, as there are now many ways to contact news agencies that a professional photojournalist can work for.

A lot of actual problems were raised in an open discussion - the lack of a full-time unit of bill-editors in the publications of Krasnodar, the complexity of training for this position, as well as photo business in general, and the level of professional photographers. Those present spoke about their experiences, argued and encouraged to work for quality.

The first PhotoCamp was visited by about 50 people, including photographers, designers, editors, directors of online media.

The organizers are grateful for the help in holding PhotoCamp to their partners - YugA.ru portal , RA Ruport , BC Formula, Live Kuban news agency, Kuban Photojournalists Union.
