Well, a little free ... Briefly about why we did it. Until some time we used Google Talk chatback badges I had to refuse it. There are several reasons, tired of looking for a normal client for Windows that could fit the chat invitation window onto the screen, but so that the consultant could click on the button. It’s difficult to explain this, you need to try, there is a kilometer-long invitation text to the chat, without hyphenation.

It was difficult to connect several consultants to the site, no, of course it is possible, but it is not intended for this, so to speak.

We are not very pleased when our customers (we have our own online stores) write at the entrance that they communicate with no one and who they are careful, in short, they carefully closed the chat and left (not all of course).

Then one day this thing stopped working, namely, it required registration from visitors, in short, I had to abandon it completely.

As usual, a long search for an alternative, we probably rummaged through all that was, and our bike as a result.
But once they started to do it, they decided to go to the end and make a ready-made service.
Yes, it is paid but there are also free ones.

Indeed, there are many similar systems, but there basically the consultant receives messages from the visitor through the website or the client’s self-written program.

In those rare cases where communication takes place via jabber, there is some (in our opinion, significant) difference in work.
There, a bot is added to your jabber account on behalf of which you will receive messages, the history, respectively, is all in it in one heap, it’s just not realistic to figure out which one.

In our case, you receive messages not from the bot, but from the JID (Jabber ID) we generated under which, of course, is a real person, by the way, we generate a funny JID, but thank God only the consultant sees it.
Accordingly, the entire history of correspondence is stored separately for each visitor, and not for one bot.

We have a number of principles for which we can no longer love:
Total ban on actions not initiated by the visitor.
Yes, we do not allow calling a visitor and do not follow him while he walks through the pages.
Of course, at the time of calling the consultant, we inform you from which page he was called and where he came from locally, this is necessary information and it is very important for the consultant.
But no more than that.

We do not show the missing consultants, we are sure that this is not right, we ourselves do not like going to any site, to see that there was a consultant, once.

With us, as soon as the consultant changed the status to unavailable, the system will select another free one, or simply hide the call button without reloading the page.
Obviously, you can change the status automatically; almost any jabber-client can do this by the timeout of inactivity.

We have the opportunity to redirect the visitor to the page indicated by the consultant, but we strongly recommend not to do this, because not all visitors calmly perceive when the operator begins to explicitly control their browser.

We do not require registration when entering the chat, this is a purely voluntary action.
But if the visitor introduced himself, we will inform the consultant about it, and the visitor will have the opportunity to send a dialogue by email.

Further, a few advantages: The

number of visitors is not limited.
Without our logo and links in the chat window.
All the functionality of the system is available immediately.
It is possible to switch to another operator.
Sound notification (so far always on) when a message arrives in the visitor’s chat, but not for every message, if messages from the consultant go in a row, there will be only one.

I am sure that I missed a lot.
I will supplement it necessarily as questions arise.

It so happened that we now need to show the number of consultants and dialogs online, but of course they already are, but there are not so many of them yet and it is not constant and not stable to show it, therefore we want to connect a certain number of operators / sites, but with a condition that you will have a certain constant flow of communication with customers.

Thus, we will have very active dynamic statistics, without lies and artificial markups.
