We add devices to the sealed case or "How to cram the invisible"

More than once I had to face the need to connect an additional hard drive or a second CD / DVD drive (or the first) to a brand new sealed system unit. This implies the case when seals are on the side covers of the case, and there is no way to get inside the traditional way.

I’ll take it in advance. In no case do not pretend to be original topic. I can only say that this piece of text is written with my own hand and with the hope that it will help someone.

The method is not difficult, but it depends very much on the location and number of seals on the (in) the case, and on the configuration of the case itself.

First you need to make sure that you have the necessary connectors on the motherboard, as well as familiarize yourself with their location. The manual should help in this.

Then you need to carefully remove the front panel. Usually it is mounted on plastic snaps. If the front panel could not be removed, you can remove the plugs on the front panel. This can be done with a knife or other similar object, gently prying the plug. After removing one of the stubs with the rest should not be a problem.

Now having shown extreme flexibility of his upper limb, you need to connect a SATA or IDE cable to the motherboard. This is perhaps the most difficult part of the whole process. If you can’t do it yourself, you can ask a colleague or friend with a thinner hand. The best option if it is a girl. Only depending on the level of her knowledge in the field of the PC device, it may be necessary to consult her, it can be shown by the example of another motherboard, which is in a more accessible position.

Further it is easier. We connect a cable and power to the device, which can also be removed from the bowels of the hull.
If the device was a drive, then it is neatly inserted into its place. In the remaining empty compartments, plugs can be returned if desired. If it was a hard drive, you can carefully put it on the bottom of the basket for devices with a size of 5.25 or come up with an alternative, for example, a chassis for a hard drive.

    That's all.

Thus, we connected the desired device without loss of warranty.

There is also known a method of gaining access to the inside of the housing by loosening the screws holding the power supply, and pushing it inward. But, in my opinion, this is a perversion of the extreme option. Yes, and you need to be sure that the power supply is not glued with sealing stickers from the inside to the body, which is a fairly common case.

P.S. Before proceeding with the implementation of this connection method, it is advisable to consider an alternative option for connecting devices that does not involve penetration into the case (eSATA, USB, LAN). Also, an additional device can be installed at the company that sold you this system unit. Sometimes they may ask for a fee. I showed you one of the ways. How to use it is up to you.
